Ronald Koeman discussion

That's the spirit Friend.
Even if we did it would still be very difficult to break into top 4. Those above us are just not dropping enough points. Utd have just won what, 7 on the bounce, and they're in exactly the same position they were in before they started their run.

As another thought, maybe by slagging them off he's seen which ones have a bit of fight about them and which ones are just a waste of space and gutless.

We saw the opposite way of treating them with OFM, and that turned out very bad for him, long as the board back him in shipping out anyone who doesn't fit his team then fair does, the strategy of tough speaking will work
Which ones have a bit of fight in them, then? Hard to tell, quite frankly.

There's tough talking, and there's running your squad out in public. I find RK has absolutely no nuance or finesse in his delivery - his sledgehammer approach is negative and inappropriate.

Put it this way: how many of us would appreciate working under a manager who spent the whole time telling us how utterly rubbish we are?

I don't know what OFM means, I'm afraid.

OFM = our former manager mate

and as for management style, depends, different people respond to different styles, whats needed though is consistancy, cant do it one way for some and one for others else it comes across as double standards

Some of Koemans former players have pretty much stated they hated playing for him etc, Mane, Tadic and a fair few at Valencia for example, then again others have praised him publically and said the style brought out the best in them, VVD and Mata being two of those

As for ones who dont have fight in them, honestly do you want those players at the club, they wouldnt have lasted a minute under Kendall in his first stint here

I suppose one point is to inform us supporters what he thinks and how he sees us going forwards . I like that personally. He didn't name any specific players. I prefer someone who's up front and blunt, rather than some obsequious, secretive, flim flam man. I've said before he wasn't my choice, like yourself I was hoping for Favre. But I've grown to like him.
Could you see HK or Joe Royle doing that? They are the benchmark of what being an Everton man and an Everton manager is all about.

Perhaps you should change your signature, given the '£10m surplus' is no longer accurate due to us spending £35m (so far) this January transfer window.
I dont have a signature mate. Maybe you should upgrade to the new version of this site? I'm sure the mods cant see what you see. Ask them.

We're not an NFL organisation. We dont retain players for one kick.

He does more than take penalties dave, he is a good standard left back. Of course he will need replacing inside the next 3 years but the problem with the team can't be heaped onto Baines shoulders, plus there are far more urgent positions to sort first.

My point is if he was the one that took the spot kick against utd things may have worked differently for all. If you get opportunities like that to go to a final or win a cup you need someone more likely to score than not to take it.

If a club has a player like him as a defender they aren't pushing to be the best they can. He is not up to it. To believe we have him at LB for another 3 seasons as you suggest is depressing. He's going backwards with every season as it is.

I cant believe Koeman wont look to move him aside this summer. It just doesn't make sense retaining him as a starting LB.

Kendall in private was even worse than Koeman. Your best mate up until the moment he's almost literally booting you out the door. Publicly, not so much, but he did force the whole team to do a punishment training in front of the fans, so I don't see a huge difference

Would agree, but for the fact he has played well the last month. He will need replacing next summer though, fitness is the issue there.

True Khal, but at the same point last season, after 20 games, we where 3 points above Saints (27 compared to 24 points) he had them finishing 16 points above in the end and only just missed out on CL (3 points off compared to say us missing out in 13/14 by 7)

Due to Leicester being the story of last season, just how well he did was overlooked.

It is not so much I don't think we are capable of putting a good run together, stevon.

It is more that I do not see enough of the six above us dropping enough points for us to somehow sneak that fourth place, no matter how well we do.

Or even to get any higher than we are now if I am honest with you.

As others have stated elsewhere and even Koeman himself alluded to it the other day, something is happening in English football this season and a "super six" teams seem to have moved up a notch.

And as in the early nineties when the Sky/EPL revoloution started, EFC has been caught flat footed and we are already playing catch up :(

It also depends what the players want now the eyes are on them now !!!
