I feel like the "Koeman Way"™ is to have everyone press and knew their job. It's hard to pull this off when your forward doesn't really like pressing. And then you also have Barkley with the same issue tho he's getting..better at it. Having three players who are lacking defensively kind of makes the "Koeman Way"™ redundant and ineffective.

excellent vaulting!

in this country we are socialised by media and peers to hold managers accountable for absolutely everything that happens to a club, at any level.

but of course, some players with potential make progress and others never do, and that has been the case in any place football is played, and at any time, under both the best and the worst managers.

the reason why we haven't pushed on as club like we thought we might in 2013-14 is, at least as much anything else, because only one of these three is remotely near what seemed reasonable to expect from all of them back then.

and of course, some will blame our managers even for this, or dispute that so much as one of them has even improved

All the managers who've discarded him are blind or on the sauce or crap?

They work with him day to day, they know more than you and me (except Martinez) I trust them.

One of the three managers who discarded him had a sensible reason to do so - Sevilla were a good side, were successful and there wasn't any real reason to upset that just to accommodate someone who was on loan anyway.

Martinez bought him and then wouldn't play him regularly even though we lacked creativity or pace and were in relegation form; Koeman wouldn't play him even though we lacked creativity and pace and were in relegation form, and even when he did start him (against Watford) he dropped him straight afterwards as if that was down to him, and not defending of the clown kind.

If he had been given a run in the team and failed, you would have more of a point. In fact there has only been a couple of occasions on which he has had a run in the team (in his loan season up until he got injured, and at the start of last season) he was one of our best players; not to do it (and worse, to pick Lennon and Valencia instead) is just daft and any manager who does it should really be questioned.

That Martinez side never pushed on because he stopped setting the team up in the way that led to all of our best results in that first season, and instead set the team up in the way that led to all of our worst results in that first season.

The positivity about Barkley is the most frightening thing. I'm beginning to think fans know absolutely nothing about football

I wonder who'll have bottle to do a similar thread for Calvert-Lewin, Lookman and Davies.

It really shows we've gotta stop thinking every youngster who comes through or we sign is nailed on to be the next Rooney.

Why has his last 3 managers discarded him after 6months?

It doesnt make sense.

I think Martinez just rested him last season rather than dropping him, but Lennon came in for him and the lifted the rest of the team - who Geri and Rom were carrying up till then.

My memory isn't the best though.

Not purposefully. RK clearly fancies other players ahead of him.
Personally, I'd find a way to keep Geri in the team even if that meant indulging him slightly.....although his work-rate this season has been good when given the chance.

I agree with everything you have said. I'm surprised koeman hasn't indulged him more to be honest. When koeman came in and played him up front and said he was aware of him since he was at Valencia I thought we were going to see him play more often but it hasn't been the case. I'd have had deulofeu over Bolasie every day of the week and surprised he hasn't turned to him more since Bolasies injury. As I say hopefully when we have a more solid and mobile midfield we may see more of Geri. Ross' ten minute cameo against Leicester aside I have missed seeing throughballs.

If that were true how do you explain that Lennon is ahead of him? How do you explain the list of managers who haven't fancied him?

No it's ridiculous to say he's our best player by 'a lot'
because lennon has an engine and will run all day

less end product, but koeman loves a winger who will close down a full back on the edge of their box

...I'm a huge fan and thought he might take off under RK but it's simply not happened. The team have been going nowhere for seasons so I'm not being compassionate about who stays or goes. If he wants a cull, I'll accept it. We need change and Koeman will be judged on how he manages that even if we disagree with steps along the way.
You cull the gibsons and mcgeadys and cleverlys

Not the 22 year old winger with loads of potential that you bought for 4m and is worth at least 4 times that if not more in today's market
