He's fine for now because Baines is still blaming Martinez for all the world's problems. If he starts subtly suggesting that "maybe we aren't keeping the ball quite as much as we have in the past", (naming no names obviously) and giving him backhand complements like Rom has already started doing, that's when Koeman should start getting worried.

At last, somebody else seeing through our flop-haired, guitar-toting icon. He's in the team on sentiment and it costs us. Just like it did with Jagielka, and unfortunately just like it is with Barry. Barry to his credit still gives 100% commitment every minute he's employed by Everton. Baines on the other hand is dropping snide remarks all over the place and doing some inner-city spray painting.

This. Leighton hasn't performed at a consistent high-level for a long time, even when staying injury-free. And mostly throughout his Everton career he's needed Pienaar to bring the best out of him. As much as I've always liked him, I never rated him as one of the best in the world like many lads on here did. We do tend to overrate our own.

Last season there was that whole Baines vs Martinez affair, and the fans were very proud that they backed Leighton and not the manager. In the end it cost Martinez his job and the player stayed on.

How did that work out in the end? The players come out feeling they own the place.

Alex Ferguson always said the secret to his success was everyone knew who was the boss: from the fans to the canteen staff and most of all the players knew it. Fergie was the boss and that was the end of it. He won his club quite a few trophies.

Im still backing him. Were on a bad run and i did expect a few bumps on the road.I'll admit though that i have been taken aback by how bad the current run is.My minimum expectation for Koeman this season was and still is to finish around the Europa league places. If it's the end of February heading towards March and were near the relegation zone i admit i will be worried and i could start thinking that we'll have to get rid of him and put David Unsworth in charge to see out the season.Hopefully we'll look back at this period and laugh and say what were we worrying about. They say first impressions count.Well between this run of results, the Lukaku comments, showering our neighbours with praise and christmas tree gate (granted that is a smaller issue but it was further proof that Koeman still doesn't get Everton) Koeman has made a terrible one imo.

aye, it's a small but significant issue...my better half knows not to buy too much red deco stuff, and if you're the Everton manager you just know not to publicly post a pic of the your red deco balls on the xmas tree.

Sack Koeman?

Some people need to stop playing FM.

aye, Ron has fought back after the initial kneejerk, currently at 141-132 in favour...37% of us still want him out.

Which isn't as exotic an opinion as some on here may think, the mainstream press are musing it too:

Koeman cannot wait to spend on Everton
Is Ronald Koeman’s job on the line? The answer to the question is likely no, but it’s not unreasonable to ask. After an opening six weeks in which his team went unbeaten, combining familiar skill with new-found steel, Everton have been on the wane. They looked bereft of confidence and ideas in this defeat. Koeman then lamented an absence of world-class players in his squad and wants big money spent next month. He will surely be given time and some cash, but the Dutchman must also make better use of the resources at his disposal. Having recently abandoned the 3-4-3 formation of the early season, Koeman went with a 4-2-3-1 formation at Vicarage Road, ambitious in itself. James McCarthy was chosen ahead of Ross Barkley as the man to link midfield and attack, but drowned in the responsibility. Another forward option, Aaron Lennon, sat on the bench until the 83rd minute. Everton may not have a squad to rival the top four, but Watford spent less money in the summer and, on this evidence, are more advanced in their development.

Wouldn't be so bad if he was still banging in some free kicks. Whatever happened to those?

Why when we go crap do we have to go crap in every area at once.

Can't somebody other than Gana have a run of form?

I blame... everyone
Fans have been on the players backs...
Because the players have been shockingly bad...
Because the players are setup badly by the manager...
Because although the manager isn't adapting to his squad, the board didn't get him the players he wanted...
Also...The opposition seem to be very ignorant and keep scoring against us

No money spent, no pride shown, no points from all our defeats, no ability to play well, no quality on the pitch...

2016... putting the NO in NSNO... Or something...

He will still be good though next year, get in some players he wants to play the style he wants to dominate with, it will all come good in time.
