And when he lost it on the edge of their box to break down an attacking move, you could tell the crowd had finally utterly lost it with Snivelley. The Echo, which for some reason is always sympathetic to Snivelley, gave him 6/10 yesterday, which is absolutely nuts. Genuinely one of the worst performances from an Everton professional I've ever seen. He had that Niasse "never seen a round ball, what's this game" look about him.

Never been a fan of Funes. A mistake waiting to happen constantly, but anything to put Boxer the carthorse Jagielka out his misery.

Huge changes still needed.

That being said, a good manager is a lucky manager also, and Koeman now needs to wake up and smell the coffee himself - there's a few very simple changes that will boost the entire club - the most prevalent being a change in system to help us get the best out of Rom - and thus score goals - whilst we are still in a transitional period, which we are.

Luck ......a commodity EFC have always found to be in short supply :)

I would play him at right back also, after Gana he was the next best player on the pitch for us. He made a great tackle on Ibra and was constantly in Martial face. He seems fearless and he must start next week. BTW we are unbeaten with him in the team...

I don't care how we play as long as we win. Have the last 2 years of the former manager not taught us that?

As I said earlier, maybe he is just getting what he can out of this crop of players who look very obviously now like they are very average. Let's see how he does with a few new faces before we start running for the hills.

Not running for the hills, merely suggesting that even with these players, lumping the ball long time after time is unlikely to see us win many games in the modern era.

As you say, he may just be using what he has in the most effective way however for those he intends to keep, is he not setting a a way of playing that he will have to undo once he's got the squad he wants?

Look at Klopp last year as an unfortunate example. Despite them looking flakey and a team unable to fully follow his instructions, he still got them pressing. 12 months down the line he has the squad he wants and they are working well together.

I'm just not sure what he is setting us up as.

happy to wait and find out but it's a worthy debate.

I think the use of the longball is an entirely pragmatic response to the deficiencies within the team. We are appallingly slow at playing the ball out from the back into midfield and forward, lacking any creativity plus offering limited support for Lukaku. As a result we've been showing very limited threat upfront and more often than not lose the ball in dangerous positions.

At least using the long ball gets us higher up the pitch more quickly and requires support around Lukaku. I think it's only a temporary measure to be honest.

lack of ball playing centre half, i think mori's distribution is actually worse than jags! panic stations when he is on the ball

We are worse off at this point this season than we were last season and we are on a winless streak worse than any under martinez playing the most dire football i have seen in the last 15 odd years.

Chasing long balls and hoofing would make Messi look average

Problem is Lukaku isn't suited to it mate, he's actually for his size and strength absolutely garbage as a target man which is how we used him yesterday for example, we are gonna do that then at least put two up front, go 4-4-2 rather than stick with a system thats been shown for two years + doesnt suit these players
