Ronald Koeman discussion

I'll tell you what he should do first, shall I?:

Look in a mirror and ask himself whether he 's putting in coaching that's worthy of the gigantic wages he's getting at this club. If he's honest he'll say he's not. THAT is the first step in moving forward here.

Koeman needs to roll his sleeves up and get stuck into this job. This is his club, not some pie in the sky version of reality where he sees us as a stepping stone to an Arsenal or Barcelona. The feller is out of his depth here, never mind there.

He needs to go back to the drawing board and start getting us on the ball and playing it to feet and constructing moves as well as looking for "100%" energy performances.

How do we know he isnt? We know he wants the 100% energy, pressing etc as he has stated before AND after nearly every match the last couple of weeks - its obvious the players either wont or cant (the latter i find hard to believe of professional players) do it.

What can he do besides keep on working on it? There are too many not doing what he wants to drop them, or we would have 9 U23's out there which isnt practical.

I also think he's restricted in the formation too. We dont have the legs in CM, or the work rate in the attacking positions to play 442 - we would be completely over-run in midfield. He tried 3 at the back and we got hammered.

i can sense a movement building up here, it goes further than yer bogstandard kneejerk fume.

December and January will decide Ron's future, I feel.

On the optimist side he had a similar bad 10-game run with S'oton but then went on to beat some Big Clubs, including RS. Saints finished top 7 in the end.

Let's hope for that.

Really not having a go - respect your views - ...all of us surely want us to challenge for trophies etc and i thought that with Martinez being replaced and a new shareholder/ new ground possibilty may change things for the better..it hasn't up to now but I am still prepared to give Koeman more time. However I am worried as a lot of us are at the lack of motivation on the pitch and why he can't change things atm. This suggests that there is a deeper malaise within the club...hope I am wrong and things will start to get better ...otherwise we could be looking at a much bigger problem...I really don't have an agenda - just want us to do well... as I'm sure you do also.
I do mate and I know you do.I just think Koeman is not here for the good of the club.

Not entirely his fault, that team are utter wasters. However, I'd expect him to instill a modicum of fire in them seeing as Southampton are his old club

I know what sounds more realistic

In your opinion, as is mine that I see us closer to top six than doomed. The beauty of a forum. Yes the form of the team is shoddy now, nigh shambolic yet we still sit where we are because the league is such that when we slip up, the teams above and around us do too. Next weekend United come to GP with BOTH teams facing the real prospect of being below Watford for gods sake by kickoff time

yes it is his fault, he has done nothing to change the formation, he talks about pressing yet no one in the team presses, he has signed Bolassie and the utter turd that is Ashley Williams, for that alone he should be sacked

It's the players man. Jagielka, Baines, Barry, Mirallas/Lennon/Deulofeu NONE are good enough and they are in the starting 11 week in week out that's the problem.

Stop blaming the manager and start blaming the players who have let us down the past 2 seasons and the board who have let us down since Barkley was in nappies.

Dave.....what role is that brother of his playing at the club?

Is he Koeman's very own Steve Round?

Moyes never bothered at all. That's unsworths job to push players forward and those on the fringe are regularly involved with the first team for training.
So what, Moyes was very poor when it came to young players & as the manager if you can't bother yourself to watch the U23's, then frankly you're either a lazy [Poor language removed] or you don't give a toss about playing younger players.

thoughts on koeman today?
bs
The game I watched was not reflected in the match thread.

But I was alarmed at how vulnerable we looked on the back foot, even being 1 down after a few seconds. Thought Bolasie looked a nuisance, but frustrating, (show me a winger who isnt, Ronaldo doesnt count).

As for the manager, the starting line up hardly caused any heart attacks, the subs were understandable, but unlike you, I am judging him on his work at Everton. And so far? A bit meh.

I once had a (very good) boss. His mantra was "Fit in, or Go away", sort of. Think thats what needed here.

maybe we should have kept Roberto and got rid of the some of the dross in the team then?
