He can play there but he needs an Erikson, Payet, Silva, Mata type player on the wing. He can't play there with two out and out wingers.

Especially with the kind of forward that Rom is. Maybe if he has an Aguero it wouldn't be so bad. I hate to say it but he doesn't have that 6th sense to sniff when there might be a chance to get a goal. The amount of times he just waiting outside the box when he should have been trying to get on to a cross.

He should watch videos of Delle Ali's movement.

Oh I agree. Having a Mata for eg in for Mirallas turns the whole thing on its head.

But that's what it looks likes he's been told to do. Compared to the first games of the season where he was making runs into the box. Coincidentally when we were playing with 3 at the back, and Ross was off Rom (including preseason )

But he's not playing Ali's role. Ali just hangs around and has freedom at the top end of the field, cutting in from the wing (today he did barely anything). He has others doing all the leg work for him (Son, Eriksen, Dembele etc). We don't have that. And to be fair, Ross is having to do that role too.

If you asked Ali to play as a CM you get what you did in the Euros - a water carrier. And he can watch Ali's runs into the box...but Barkley is more of a rounded player who'd spread play. So they're two very different styles at the moment.

More often than not we suffer as a team for having him at #10. Don't think he has the skill set to really be effective in a deeper role. Getting harder and harder to see where he fits into the jigsaw, which is sad because I'm desperate for him to make it.

Not for me. Doesn't play well with his back to goal and doesn't seem to have the finesse of passing in and around the area. For me he should be given a run in the midfield two and that would be make or break for him.

Off a forward 2 works best for him. That's how Martinez got the best out of him. You had Kone and Rom and Ross behind them.

Our forward line is very unbalanced especially out wide. People complained that we only played with 1 real winger because of it. And I think Koeman is coming to terms with the enigma that is Mirallas.

I absolutely despair at our fans sometimes, Barkley wasn't poor today. Why all this resentment towards him?? People think he is playing for a move away... Evidence?? Some plonker just suggested the lad was a drug taker and Alcholic, we lost a game we didn't deserve, our squad isn't all that. Koeman will get the players in that he wants. 5 points behind Liverpool who apparently are the greatest team to ever grace the premier league.

It's not all that bad, think back to last year, are we better?? I would say yes.
