Man City 1-1 Everton post match

No. Not toe to toe. I did expect a bit more attacking intent though. The first half especially was embarrassing knife to a gunfight stuff.

The problem is they have much better players and their style is very possession based. I haven't watched the game so I can't comment on our ball retention but on paper the way the game went was expected apart from the result.

We need to find an attacking game, because Stekelenburg isn't going to be that good all the time. The defence was poor too, btw.

But we're not going to be playing teams of the calibre of Man City every week, that will mean Stekelenburg will have to produce that level of performance every week.

Would we have taken a point before the game? Yes, I think most rational supporters would.

It was a good point away from home against arguably the best team in the league and the out and out favourites to win the league.

The performance was a horses for courses game plan that was executed almost to perfection.

Maybe some fans would still prefer the old Martinez mentality, where we have 60-70% possession but concede three goals every game - but hey, at least we had a go.

Sorry, it's a results business. And we've just secured a very good result against a team who'd won all their previous home games at a canter. I'll take that every time because, at the end of the season, it'll show we got a point at Man City, it won't mention the performance.

I think we can get at teams like this. It;s just that there's no pressing high up the pitch because we're petrified to move out in numbers from our half.

the heat map of that game would be interesting.

That's precisely why we have to acquire an attacking game, because we dont even show it against Bournemouth of Palace at home. Sunderland away second half is looking like the aberration this season.

I wish we had our former manager back who'd never play so negatively in that game

Celtic and spurs played them at home. I don't know why it makes a difference but it seems to.

Know what your saying mate, but not pressing, and sitting back and allowing City to have all the possession was always going to have us on the back foot too much for my liking, at the end of the day though, we got something out of the game, and that is all what matters.
