It's " Cool " to [Poor language removed] him off now. You could hear the groans from the crowd early on in the game.

Seriously, he needs to move to get away from the negativity of the fans.

He's not good enough that's why? No moaning at Gana or Willaims for some reason maybe ... Hmm can't put finger on it... Oh yea Barkley is bang average

What makes me laugh is if we sold him the lads who love to criticise him every chance they get would go mental at the board for 'selling our best players'

Honestly the utter commitment to negativity on here from some of you is astonishing

He's not our best player and I doubt anyone would want him unless likes of Sunderland come for him... Doubt they have money and that's about his level

Is it just confidence Dave? If so you'd expect a poorer performance on Saturday than tonight.

For me, it's an inability to apply himself consistently - he's obviously an extremely talented footballer but for reasons unknown he cannot apply himself every game.

He's hugely talented, he's had the mental strength to recover from an horrific injury, yet there's definitely something that stops him doing his stuff week in week out. I'm at a loss to explain it to be honest.
It's as frustrating as it is puzzling

He's not a simple "average" he's inconsistent. Some amazing stuff, some shocking stuff.
These average off as "average" but not in the same way as a normal middle of the road player.

Don't think the crowd helps, but equally he doesn't help himself.

His brain-foot messaging system is perhaps not well wired enough. I think he lacks the 'smarts' to be a top level #10.
I'm not being unkind here-I still think he has talent, but just not as much as some think he has.
At the top level in sport, it's all about the top two inches.

If you take his good with his bad he's an average English midfielder

It amuses me when half the ground are shouting at him to shoot when he's got abar 4 men around him with his back to goal. Chill lads.

You think he's good enough for top 5 teams?

KDB. Ozil. Hazard/ Oscar/ pedro/
Mata / mykr new lad
Eriksen lamela all better number -10s than Ross

Have so much more technical ability

Ross has poor mentality and not good enough to ever be a top player

Personally I think it's 100% in his head. His ability has never been in doubt. He's come through a system where he;s been the best player at every level of football he played at.

That's not the case at top flight senior football. My opinion, and I stress it's only my opinion, is that he doesn't have the hunger to be the best player that he can be. It takes work to shine at this level, whereas it doesn't at academy level. I think he lacks the hunger and determination. He doesn't want it enough. And that's painful to say that.

I'll tell you how you don't make that better: drag him through the media to "cure" him. I'm staggered Koeman didn't realise the bollockings he gave wouldn't be counter productive.

I think Barkley is going to be our Tadic...he was made a target at S'ton as a way of putting a head on a pike for all other players to tow the line.
