Ross Barkley

A number of posters on here expressing the hope that Ross will 'focus' now. You may be right of course but I think I see something slightly different.

Might it not be that he's trying too hard? Perhaps what he needs is to relax (in his head I mean) more?

I see him receiving the ball and somehow freezing in the moment....maybe move forward a few yards but without a clear idea of what he's going to do next. But no shortage of focus or effort....just of options.

If I'm right then it's definitely a coaching problem. Coaching for Ross in thinking correctly under pressure. And coaching for the wide players and striker in giving him options.

Interestingly, I have seen him change a game with a single moment of brilliance. In an England shirt. Can't recall who England were playing but he threaded the ball through the eye of a needle to Walcott who scored. And his best moments for us have been instinctive.....wondrous goals against Man City Swansea

Personally I think he will come good under RK. Just needs the right kind of leadership.

Good call imo ....Barkley has the ball firmly in his court now. He has to improve as he is truelly the focus of many atm; this is for me a huge crossroad in his future, for me he can can change a game with a moment if brilliance but he cannot control a game

He will be up to show his worth tonite no doubt COYB

He played a big part in the spurs game

So we base players inclusion in the team based on a 45min performance

If we talk of merit Barkley should be in the starting 11

He's in. I hope he justifies the faith. He's a great player on his day. I suspect he can't afford too many performances like the last one if he is to retain his starting place.

Like night and day; that first half against Sunderland was dire. Looks like he's had a word in his ear; make sure the simple things are done and the rest will come. He grew into that game with every minute
