Really weird Everton match

tonight is one that won't be forgotten for a while!

Battering a team 3-0, but then feeling far happier about the 200k donation than about the result!

Couple more to suggest :-

Grimsby at home in '84/85 season. Battered them all match but just wouldn't go in, then unknown Paul Wilkinson with his inexcusable hairdo heads in for them in last minute. Can't believe that game 30 yrs later. Me and my dad still call a game we dominate but somehow manage to lose "a Grimsby".

Second is that rare beast, a 'reverse Grimsby' against Wolfsburg at home 2 seasons ago. They were best team, created loads of chances & dominated possession. We won 4-1 somehow.

Felt for Iain Turner in that one, ships 4 on his debut at Chelsea (as a last min replacement cos of Wright's dopeyness) then gets sent off just 10 mins into his league debut. Could have been a great keeper for us but them two moments done his confidence
Then dropping a sitter of a ball at O'Shea's feet when 2-0 up against Man Utd. in the match just after Alan Ball had died seemed to finish him for us.

Most goals I've seen us score. Bloody freezing I seem to recall.

That game was the last time my old man ever watched Everton live as a lad before migrating to Australia, a good send off If I do say so

Anyone remember the Grimsby match at Goodison, cup game I think.

A cold night, muddy pitch and we hammered them but we couldn't score, and near the end they went forward and scored with a great header, Park end.

We signed the goal scorer not long after, can't think of his name.

Paul Wilkinson, remember that night well !!

Coventry 98.
For the simple fact that I announced pre kick off that we would stay up if Gareth Farrelly scored.

I got lots of 'we are down then' and funny looks.

And then he hit a screamer.

(****head) Barmby missed a pen and they equalised and then pushed on at the death with Strachan waving furiously on the touchline.

I remember feeling after the Wimbledon game in 94 we would go on to better things (which briefly we did after a horror start the following season). That last day of 98 just felt dirty. We where garbage and the day was horrible dank and grey.
