We'll see, the lad is shot for confidence and the number 10 position is not the place to play when your touch is off. He's been playing that role for 3 seasons now and hasn't progressed. Just my opinion that he needs to move back to the position he played in his academy days.

I like Barkley and would like to see him succeed. In some ways he reminds me somewhat of Cleverley in that for all his talent it's hard to find a position on the pitch where he consistently shines.
He was easily man marked he could not cope with it plenty of time to learn he will bounce back taking him off well it could have been him or KM in the first half RK got it spot on tonight!

Dele Ali reminds me of Barkley we he came on the scene. And Ali had a pretty awful euros and even got dropped at spurs until the weekend. Wasn't his night tonight. Needs consistency, he can't be fluctuating between 4/10 and 9/10 performances. It seemed like he had the world on his shoulders tonight. He needs to relax and see the game situation. But you can definitely see his confidence is knocked, you rarely seen him attempt those darting dribbles or long shots anymore.

Let's not overreact, he had a sloppy first half. Starts again Saturday. Refreshing to have a manager make quick decisions like that.
The number ten role requires the player to want to play forward balls between the defenders, to try to go past players after turning them, to make runs in behind. After watching Barkley for 3 years he is just not willing to do any of this. He offers himself for token side ways balls. He turns a player and then turns back onto himself without having the drive to force forward. He never makes a run in behind. He is completely ineffective.
He is absolutely petrified of making a mistake and taking gambles in any of his play. This is an absolute requirement of a PL forward player and there is no sign of it in him. He needs a sports psychologist or something to sort his head out and tell him before it's too late.
