Ross Barkley

Really needs to apply himself, seems to be losing 'game intelligence' every week. Hope he doesn't go the way of Rodwell. Jack was exciting at times too and showed flashes of brilliance.
Injuries finished him off, surprised what we got from City.

I'm not entirely sure he does, y'know. Absolutely would not get near a top 4 first team.

That double leg break all those years ago, its never good!

Probably the worst half of football he has ever had in a blue shirt.

I like Ross and still think he can develop a lot more but i still don't see him as that #10 for us, Mirallas linked up play much more effectively in the final third than Ross has for a while and Mirallas isn't even natural in this sort of role.

Ross looks like he would be more suited to a 433 midfield role where the main focus on creativity isn't centered around him. The hope is he can still develop into the #8 type player due to his powerful running and technique but its becoming less likely the more time passes by.

He wasn't great first half, but he was one of a 3/4 who could have been subbed at half time. The change worked and it's great to see a manager willing to make that decision. I'm a massive Barkley fan, but I'd go with Deulofeu ahead of him against Middlesborough now, and he'll have to play his way back in.

Bad day at the office.

He'll have better days.

Did someone just compare him to Cleverley??

BED
Agreed - Lets not overreact. Bad Game - But the response from the manager is exactly what he needs. He has to perform. He was the reason we got points the first two games. We all have bad days. How he reacts is the measure of him as a player. But effort and focus can make up for a bad day. Today was not one off those days and he has to recognize ways to contribute when not on his best.
