I can't believe people are actually questioning the validity of that statement. As if a tv journalist would just make up a random quote like that. He has zero to gain and would face being sued.

If it's true we need to ask farhad why he was willing to waste 30m on a player we didn't want? And why he hired a jet for him and wasted everyone's time trying to do a deal for him? Embarrassing if Spurs didn't come in and match the bid we'd be left with a player we didn't want and had spent a club record on!!

"We could not proceed with a deal that would jeopardise his place at Everton"

So we spent most of the night trying to get a deal agreed for Sissoko, agreed the fee with Newcastle, agreed personal terms with the player and had a private jet readied for him (if reports were true) but then we thought "Oh noooooes , what about James McCarthy's place at the club?!?!" ... erm okay

Something is afoot here, enjoyment turned into scepticism.

He's missed his first chance to make his statement and now he's made this statement (if true).

Just awaiting for this land purchase to go wrong and then we have it, Kenwright has done us again.

Sorry you are right why would a journalist ever make a quote up or twist anything ever

Why would Jim White (a *respected* SkySports news presenter) make up a quote and risk being sued? I know we'd all feel a lot better thinking that but there's nothing for him to gain in making it up
