Thing is if we have bought 3 (4 with Bolasie) going straight in then we have 3 previously first 11 players now on the bench. that is strength in depth..

I thought about that before I posted my message but we, in my opinion, have managed to buy 4 players who have gone into the side without really improving the overall squad.
Williams taking over from Stones gives us short term gain but long term it is a massive step backwards. Bolasie is a minor improvement on our present wingers, but squad wise, I don't think anyone was prioritising a winger. Gana is a great buy but we are so short in midfield we need more, Barry is another year older, McCarthy seems to be not to be part of Koeman's plans so it is one for one really. Stem replaces Howard, again an improvement but again an area where we are short.
We need another forward to play with or act as understudy to Lukaku, we need a playmaker, we need a defensive midfielder, another centre half and a goal keeper.
I make my point about the squad not being collectively improved because the glaring holes are still there.

Pathetic window.

Let's be honest with ourselves, we were promised a summer spending spree like we'd never seen before. We've actually got a net spend that we have seen all too often.

Who promised you that? because the Club didnt promise a single thing - you've clearly been listening to people and thats the reason for a lot of the meltdowns people have had.

I was promised that 'Nothing would be the same' when renewing my season ticket.

As I said, our spending and selling of big assets is very much the same.

Until proven otherwise, this window has been very average.

I was hoping to see some investment given the way everyone was going on. It's disappointing but by no means surprising to see no investment at all.
In a season when we got an extra 35m in TV money and a new owner I'm surprised we have yet to reach a positive net spend.

I wasn't expecting a lot but I was expecting more than what we are getting.

It seems to me that with regard to our targets every conceivable obstacle has sprung up to thwart those signings. Are we at all confident that signings will materialise? I must admit I am feeling considerable doubts on us achieving ant thing like the signings we want.

As for a bit of cheek we need a back up striker well there is a lad said to be unhappy, known goalscorer bit of an injury worry but lets put in a cheeky bid for __________________ Sturridge,

Nigh on 24 hours to go. In terms of personnel, I'm happy enough with what we've brought in so it's a 6/7 for me.

To take it up to an 8, I need to see at least two more, straight into the first eleven signings, but even then, Champions League qualification would be a tough ask.

We've done good business so far. Gueye, Williams and Bolasie are all decent signings who I think will do well for us. However, we badly need some more signings, at the very least a striker (we have a massive problem if Lukaku is injured or out of form (as he was on Saturday)) and a creative midfielder.

POSITIVES ....Pleasantly surprised with Stek and Gueye ...... Williams will prove to be a solid signing. Not too disappointed with Stones departure .....happy Lukaku is staying ...VERY pleased with Koeman / 7pts out of 9 a decent start / existing squad playing better.

NEGATIVES ..... not real big names to drive the club forward / haven't upgraded obvious needs in talent or depth / unable to unload the dross ( Niasse / Mcgeady / Gibson )

5/10

Interested to see who is IN / OUT in the next 24 hours

Its been poor, we slightly improved our squad, but out first team is about as it was with our new super signing being very very underwhelming.. We have money, our new owner has money, we sold players we have about broken even... So far... its been poor.

If there wasn't a hype at the start then I would have said it was a fairly decent transfer period thus far compared to transfers of the past 5+ years, but with so many rumours and hype it's been fairly disappointing in terms of signatures but those players we've signed especially Gueye have turned out to be inspiring.

Moshiri himself promised that in his very first statement after buying up. Shortly after that began the "nothing will be the same" marketing drive.
