At the start of the window until around about half way through they said there was going to be a big net spend and loads of top players and that team pampers should stay calm and be patient.

Well it looks like they were wrong and Team Pampers were right.

Now that they are saying what we were after is progress not net spend is nonsense. That's changing the goal posts.

Santa Claus isn't real either!

The only one gueye is similar to is McCarthy and it looks like we are going to swap the 2 with £10m in the bank. I agree we need a forward and I accept you are not happy. But you surely you cant criticise the club for good business. Gueye has had no bearing whatsoever on our ability to or not to bring a forward in
No problem with Gueye as long as we had the big guns sorted out. We haven't though.

Also, he's played three games. I'll give it a few months yet before declaring him an upgrade on mccarthy.

...you get your primary targets in and tinker about with that later.

GK
ACM
2nd Striker.

All crucial, none in. Two days to get them. Ninety days since the window officially opened.

Unimpressive.
That's not how it works at all. You sign players you think would improve you as and when they become available not when you feel like 'tinkering about with the team'

And while your primary targets may or may be working, turn the chance down to sign a seemingly quality midfielder for a small fee? Come off it.

What defines a "big gun?" Who cares how much a player cost, what his name is, or where he's come from? I care about ability, and he's got loads of that from what we've seen so far. He's put in MOTM level performances every single game so far. Fantastic.

What worries me by leaving it this late, is that we'll panic into paying stupid wages just to get the signature. What happens then when the player turns out to be beans a la Niasse or a has been like Schweinsteiger on massive wedge.

At this point, "Don't do anything stupid" is a good motto. The squad has needs, but there's enough quality to at minimum remain within striking distance of Europe once the January window rolls around.

So gueye isn't allowed to 3 games to prove he's a good player but Bolasie is allowed 2 games to prove he's not. If we won the league you would moan we didn't get enough points mate

Tbf Dave, you couldn't see Blerto was a blagger after 3 seasons never mind 3 months. In saying that, if we don't have another striker in by windows close we'll have missed getting in what we needed most imo and it'll be a mark gainst the new regime.

A slogan used by the club to promote season ticket sales.
Not just a throw away comment.
Agreed promises were not made but suggestions and speculation pointed to bigger and better and before anyone says it's only speculation it has come from too many sources not to have some truth behind it.

I'm really really hoping we are wowed in the next couple of days but feel we have significantly lowered our ambitions from a couple of months ago.

It's an advertising SLOGAN! It was done when we still had Martinez here fgs. It's marketing. Not a 'promise'

And exactly - SPECULATION and SUGGESTIONS.

The window isn't shut yet and we will get more in - and given how the signings so far have all improved out squad, I'm sure there'll be good ones.

This is the best start to a season we've had in a decade. The players look hungry to improve, fit and will get better.

We need a few more improvements to get back to where we want to be and then, urgo, attract a better standard of player easier.

So far so good.
