Koeman said after our Spurs match that he wouldnt sell McCarthy. I wonder if anything changed, or if this is just paper talk.

He must not really have progressed however not that surprising given the mumbling coming from people who are close to the youth teams.

Another to show that until a kid is playing regularly for us it's unwise to pencil them in for the future. The premiership is a huge step up and the vast majority don't make it.

I know that's true but you also have to pay the market rate. If you want top players like Hart you need to pay their wages.

The market rate is only what clubs are willing to pay, and if there's a club who is willing to pay hart £140,000 a week ( reportedly) then more fools them, there is no way on gods earth is he worth that, and the proof will be when no one will be willing to pay that come dead line day, and he realizes no one is prepared to pay that, his demands will come down, that's of course if he wants first team footy. If someone is prepared to pay £140.000 a week then that's his market value but if someone is only prepared to pay £70,000 then that's his market value. As for the players we have supposedly bid for, if the club believe that their wage demands are excessive I for one am glad we did didn't pay it.

All roads still point to Hart, Kone, and a striker. With Martina in as cover (or has he rejected us too? :)) So that would be 4 new signings in the next week, busy by any standards.

Think we would, but Koeman has today said how well the partnership between Barry and Gueye is doing.

So maybe not a 'guaranteed' starter - potentially a player who will come in and add something a bit different and more competition.

Genuinely though, whatever happens we're in for an exciting week.

He knows that Barry has to be managed a different way to the everyone else, I imagine another CM will be brought in.

Which would all be good business if we managed to sign 4 of those postions.

would finally have a balanced squad without massively changing the dynamics of the first 11

Getting the feeling this is all going to go off on deadline day. Just seems across the whole of the league everyone's holding back from making moves. Will wait until it shuts before shedding a tear- just look at our bench at West Brom to realise we're already better off at the moment. Whisperings say we're in for a striker, centre back and goalkeeper and I'd be happy with that. Add a CAM in and we're off.

....folk actually opened threads on;
Lucas Perez; Lamini Kone; Cuco Martina; Joe Hart; Manito Gabbiadani; Wifred Bony; Rachid Ghezzal; Balotelli; Kalidou Khalibaly; James Rodriguez; Moussa Sissoko; Diafra Sakho; Daley Blind; Juan Mata; Diego Rolan; Abdennour; Charlie Austin; Willam Carvalho; Axel Witsel; Gylfi Sigurdsson; Samir Nasri; Robbie Brady; Arnautovic; Mahrez;

Less threads in a blanket and not much time to bring them in.

rolan, forgot about him.

Wonder if he turned us down for champions league football as well?

I know he does Head and Shoulders but I will quote L'oreal. "He is worth it". He has been one of the top keepers in the league who played for the champions league semi finalists and is still in his peak.

That's their price. Cech is considerably more expensive. Lloris is around the same. Coutois is a bit cheaper but younger. De Gea gets paid twice as much. That's the top 5 teams in the league.

70K gets you a keeper for the 2nd tier teams below. If we have ambition to break into that top 5 then that's the wages we need to pay.

For all our bluster and bloviation...we are exactly at the same point we have been every year since I can remember ('03)

Window opens
First week goes by with no new personnel
Supporters go nuts with outlandish claims we will never sign anyone.
1 or 2 signings in the next couple of weeks
Supporters go nuts with outlandish claims we will sign everyone.
a couple of weeks go by with only rumors and tosh
Supporters go nuts with outlandish claims we wont sign another.
Last couple of weeks we add another piece
Supporters go nuts with outlandish claims we need another or we are doomed.
Deadline day Everton spends all the monies
Supporters go nuts with outlandish claims we will win the league.

Rinse and repeat for January and you pretty much have our entire roller coaster in summary.
