Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Im sorry but I fail to see the investment.

So...are people suggesting that if Moshiri had not bought 49% of the shares, with up to 75% being his eventual take up, and Bill and the old board were still in place, we would have spent no more money than has already been spent? We would have broken or equalled our record transfer fee, we would have committed millions to a parcel of land on the river side, we would have acquired Koeman and Walsh and we would have cleared the bulk of our debts?
There will always been a section of 'support' particularly on the internet forums, that will never be happy or even believe anything that is good about the club they supposedly support, and I suspect that for these people, its the 'argument' and 'confrontation' that gives them their buzz. It's actually nothing to do with football, its just the way they are, probably, in 'real life'
The positive way to react to what is happening at Everton currently, is to embrace the changes and be confident about the future.
Some people shout and scream about what they want, but when they get it they don't want it anymore. I have grave doubts about the motives of these self proclaimed 'supporters'.

I'm not saying that. I'm saying the plan was always to use the Stones and TV money to strengthen the squad without Moshiri having to invest in the squad. I think we might bring in Kone and that would be the last of the extra TV money.

Do you honestly think we will bring in anyone else assuming no one leaves?

I didn't think so.
Or the TV money is being put towards the new ground?, even if we have a mega budget to sign players do we HAVE to spend it all?, its obvious we have made bids for players who have rejected us, there are quotes from agents and sporting directors saying we have blown people out the water with our offers, but whats the point debating any of it? you have already made your mind up

Why are we waiting so long to wrap deals up. I've known of Evertons I treat in Lucas for nearly a week now. So why haven't we done what we needed to do and get him into the club. Now looks like Arsenal have stole in last min an will sign him today or tomorrow. Took them 3 days....I can't help but be pessimistic, Kenwright has made me that way. Not happy at all again me....

Not to be obtuse but I've mentioned this many times before: where has it been confirmed that there would be in excess of £100m to spend?

Apart from an article by the Mirror mentioning that figure way back in February (and we know how reliable they are!) it's been mostly here-say.

I'll admit a small number of other papers have fleetingly mentioned it, but I'm still lacking a reliable source which suggests it's the figure.

Instead, a process of Chinese whispers and fan speculation/fanciful talk have ingrained the figure into the fan base to a point it's now gospel.

I'm not saying we do not have that figure to spend or that we won't spend that much, but the talk of a war chest doesn't signify an actual amount.

Perhaps the £100m is reference to an overall initial investment rather than purely an amount that has been put aside for transfers?

I don't know and the point is neither does anyone else but those behind the scenes. We'll keep spending until the window closes and then see.
What initial investment?

Esk confirmed the money was used to simply buy shares. That's not money going into the club. The debt has just been transferred to Moshiri from some dodgy virgin isles company.

The club is marginally better off.

Patience is not just a great song by Gun's and Roses, but it's also something desperately required around these parts

It seems like Moshiri is in this for the long haul and it looks like we're getting the stadium sorted, along with making some shrewd signings in places where we needed depth

Gana, Bolasie, Williams and Stekky have all contributed to making us a better side than we were last season

We will not be buying loads of big name players and conquering all comers over night. We're not going to "do a City"

I'm quitely confident that we're moving in the right direction, and we might even have one last "big" signing in us between now and deadline day, but this will take time. It's a marathon, not a sprint

I'm more relaxed with Everton than I have been in years. The first couple of months of this season were always going to be a bit of a slog. The players aren't fit enough, we're bedding in new players and Koeman is trying to put his own mark on things when he hasn't really been here for that long

This. Will. Take. Time

I think we all just need to calm down a bit quite honestly

Brilliant post, apart from the the Guns and Roses bit.

In a nut shell - we are a work in progress.

Even the mega bucks of Man U have to an extent, had to start again after Fergie left and it didn't work out for Moyes.

The RS have been a work in progress now for about twenty years !

I think you are wrong , maybe spectacularly so.
We will know this time next week where we stand.
What is obvious however is that we are in the market for players. Gabbiandini , Perez, Ghezzal, Kone.

As with our actual signings this summer, I think the players we actually do sign may not have been mentioned yet.

How can you embrace something you can't see.....

Cleared debt......have we?
Bought land.......have we?

I want to believe but history has fought me not to because nothing is ever what it seams at Everton......thanks Kenwright

From all the weird rumours Ive read online these last months, Joe Hart on loan seems to be the only deal where wages is a problem. And i get that, City should have to pay some of his wages, or they should out-right sell him to us. All other rumours has been in the vain of "ambitious Everton, set to double blahblahblahs wage, to lure him to mercyside.". In fact, I just read exactly that about these striking targets of ours.
We are shopping in a higher end player pool this season, players whom probably all want CL, which we aint got. So, they prefer to wait for other deals. Just you wait, come deadline day, we have another striker and defender, at least.
Do you not find it surprising that we are willing to double the wages for all these top players we can't get but won't pay the going rate for the one top player we can get?

It's not been a failure if you expected us to sell Stones and use the money to strengthen the squad. It's been a failure if you were expecting significant additional investment to allow us to push for top 4.

If we signed Carvalho, Bony, Mata as well as getting Hart and Kone which would have in total been around a net spend of 100m we would have a squad that could realistically push for top 4 so in that respect it is a failure but it just depends what you were expecting going in.

Errrm mate if we had signed all those players on top of what we have already signed then that would have given us a team we could realistically expect a title challenge from never mind top 4.

think a lot of people are deluded in what they think it takes to push a top 4 place - West Ham nearly managed it last season, Leicester won it, Spurts did so with a bare bones small squad and a very young team, the rs did it with one quality player carrying them - as did spurs with bale and a few other examples.
We nearly managed it in Martinez first season with a squad with holes all over the show in it and a clueless manager
