Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

I wouldn't be sorry to see us give this guy a wide berth.

Just as Lescott did to us. A player we took a chance on with his dodgy knees. Took his career to new heights, England cap, then when the offer came, he downed tools. His character (or lack off) showed itself at city & at villa when he was posting pics of his car when they were going down.

I know he says he had a promise, but there's a right way to do things & what he's doing isn't it!

....if RK wants him we should pursue him, there's no point being too purist on these things because it's the way it is these days.

It's just about behaviour. There's a way and a means of conducting yourself in his position and him/his agent are well wide of the mark. He was unheard of when we plucked him from the bottom end of the French league - he had done nothing in his career at 27yo. He plays 16 premier league games for us, decides he's not paid enough and he/his agent go on a month long campaign to engineer a move. The club were brilliant last week in calling his bluff and telling him that he would get a contract offer. Flushed him out. Now he's exposed for what he is - a bad professional.

The majority of footballers are ego driven weapons these days.

For Lamine Kone at Sunderland see John Stones half baked performances for Everton, crying off in a derby when we desperately needed a Centre Half. He has eventually got his wish of his move that he wanted only a year after establishing himself. I hate seeing players behave in this manor, unless it is a player engineering a move from the kopite monsters obviously.

Of course I trust Koeman (just as well, coz we have no choice in the matter).

I'm sure managers must look at behaviour though. If he comes & does well, then we know what we can expect down the line.

Why didnt sunderland offer him a contract like they promised him at the end of last season if they wanted to keep him?

What would managers such as Brian clough think of agents in the modern game? They are leeches sucking money out of the game for their own benefit. Kone has had his head turned there is no doubt and if he has turned down a new contract offered by the club that's fair enough (even if you don't like it). But to pull a stunt with his 'bad back' on the eve of a derby game shows a distinct lack of respect for Sunderland.
Just thinking back to my original point I would have loved to have seen clough's reaction to raiola's actions representing pogba as a teenager at Utd and Lukaku at Everton. Even the agent of Kone sounds horrible. Saying that even fergie didn't get his own way with raiola, I wonder if clough would have favoured any better.

If he arrives here and not Chelsea , than fine just another sneaky mercenary earning a crust. As long as he does what's asked than I ,somewhat hypocritically, will no doubt cheer him. I suppose the only downside for the footballer is when his form dips whether the fans get behind him as much as a more honourable footballer.

He's already got a contract - it runs out in 2020. He's decided 16 games into a premier league career that he "deserves" more and will do anything to get it. This from a bloke who got to the age of 27 without anyone outside of France knowing who he was.
If you'd have given him the contract he was promised in the summer this thread wouldn't exist.

Look up at your directors box for the root cause of this issue
