As you should be, its been an utter shambles from start to finish, but its done now, the gaffer clearly has a plan and he doesnt strike me as somebody that wont get it done.

We faced a reality sadly, the reality is that a club that finished 11th for 2 seasons cant attract the higher tier of player.

Stones was sold cos he wanted out, if Lukaku goes it will be for the same reason, I guess we have to watch with interest the next few weeks.
If that's the case maybe Martinez had the right approach buying kids. The only flaw in his plan was that he didn't have the money to do it properly. It's very rare you pick up a gem of a 20 year old now for 1m-3m. However if we were willing to pay 30m then that opens up the opportunity to buy potential top class players. e.g. Bazoer a 19 year old at Ajax may see us a good stepping stone and for the right price I'm sure he would be available.

Easy then. Resign Hibbo on a one year deal, pay him a £Million per week, then sign everyone next Summer.

I'm calling BS on there ever being a war chest. I think Koeman was brought in with the club knowing we where losing Stones and Lukaku and needed a manage that can rebuild. Mahrez, Draxler, Wisel, Carvalho, Koulibaly haha c'mon!. The minute we got the Stones money we bid £30m for Bolasie, seriously... Bolasie. To think there was members saying lets bid £60m for Rodriguez hahaha.

You might disagree with who we're signing for £30 million - but £30 million on a single player and £9 million on a 31 year old CB doesn't really fit into your narrative of us being secretly skint, I'm afraid.

I don't see why Koeman would leave Southampton to join us if he knew that

So Koeman wouldn't have asked for assurances before joining? He has a good reputation he's built up himself so he wouldn't gamble on a mediocre club going nowhere.

It's not our one and only chance. Mate you're talking like its the season we finished 4th under Moyes and we missed the chance of actually breaking the top 4 mold and getting ourselves access to prizes that had till this point been shut off to the rest of the league bar the big 4. The point of what he's doing is sustained success, not some one off feat. If we have to sell Lukaku or others next year then we replace them and build up from there. We are still looking to bring in 3/4 in this window alone. We are offering competitive wages for the next level of player after 2 crap seasons, 21 years without a significant trophy and nearly 30 years since we won the league, an unbalanced squad left by the previous manager and board, we don't have European football to offer, a couple of young hotshots who'd been left disgruntled with our previous campaigns. I understand people are frustrated but there's far more to look forward to then dwell on here.

I don't think we were waiting for the money to sign the players, just to drive the price up. City tried to call our bluff and they ended up breaking because they knew they had a deadline on their CL squad submission. They cracked and paid our asking price. The relevance of how much we got for stones still rings true. We didn't need the money there and then to ensure we don't break the rules but if we just rolled over and took their first offer then that would damage us long term plain and simple.

That's the reality of our situation, people thought this was going to happen overnight because we rode the crest of a wave when his plans got released. None of us work in the industry and so had no comprehension of how big the task was. Now we know, what point is there in moaning about it. It shows a complete detachment and denial of what we have to do and where we find ourselves
But you aren't answering the question. It's demonstrably the case that we had to wait until Stones was sold because it's too much of a coincidence that our signings have all started around now. If we have a lot of money why wait and play hard ball with City? Sometimes you have to lose a battle to win a war.
