Out of all the players linked so far bizarrely I hope this one comes off more than the others.
The idea of a massive tank like this lad, who helped turn a dreadful Sunderland side into a solid outfit instantly, working with a manager who made VVD and Fonte into 2 of the best defenders in the league is potentially very exciting.
A lot more clean sheets with kone and Williams in the side, would love koeman to go further and sign a top class keeper. All great teams build from the back, not saying we're a great team, but we're never going to be challenging for European spots with the defending we saw last season. It will also make us so much more of a threat from set pieces.

If he is a solid defender then happy to bring him in over a koulibaly type player.

Less money spent and do a similar job in the team. Main priority is a defence that is hard to score against and these type of players will do that. Even still having mori who I think will be great for us leaves us with a younger option.

Why are people determined to sell defenders if we sign this guy, it's handy to have 4 senior cbs. Last year showed you it's risky to only have 3

I would not sell Jags. He has been a credit to the club and played great in the Semi final at Wembley when carrying an injury.
At his best he was the most impressive defender I have seen since Dave Watson at his peak.
And he never once rocked the boat when Arsenal tried to unsettle him. A credit to himself and the club.
I hope we can add more players with his attitude rather than those that view us as stepping 'Stones'.

Although it helps, you don't need top defenders in their prime to have a solid defence that consistently keeps clean sheets, it's all about the management..

Good defensive management can make a quality defence out of bang average players.. (Pulis a prime example)

Koeman knows how to organise a defence plus he will have good, experienced players to choose from..

Would be made up with the Kone to go with the Williams addition for 30 mil odd, with koemans expertise we would have the resources to have one of the tightest defences in the leagues..

Don't need to blow 80 mil on the likes of Koulibally and Rugani!
