Joe Anderson won't be going anywhere. He'll carry on as City mayor - he was only recently reelected

No reason to worry because he's a Red but He'll also remain the MP for Walton. Conflict of interests really you would have thought. On one hand he won't want Everton to leave Walton but helping deliver a new stadium would be part of being the metromayor.

No mate they are not electing a new mayor of Liverpool, they are creating a brand new Liverpool city region major, I.e. Knowsley, Sefton etc, Anderson will remain as mayor of Liverpool city

Obviously don't undetstand how local politics work. Think the council don't have sway on this?.

Kind of muted now he's lost the nomination but he will still have authority on localised issues for the city and the connection to the proposed commonwealth bid links to the metro mayor now too. That is the angle you should be looking from.
