Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

Looks like this is off, he is back training with Sunderland this morning

which was always going to be the case that he was back in training.

this could well be a move to get him that better contract, but similarly many sources claiming that we've made a bid (or two)

Jags isn't going anywhere

We either want 3 central defenders, or 4. If it's 3 then just keep Jags and use the money elsewhere. If it's 4 then we need Jags anyway.

I'm guessing us rejecting his Jags approach was the reason he called back Kone to training.

I'll be really disappointed if we don't sign this guy now, all the Sunderland fans really rate him and that's enough for me. Get him signed, sealed and delivered Ronald.

Difficult to do business a week before the season. Any selling club has to scramble around for replacements before they will let a player go, and fans are jumpy. Sunderland are playing a balancing act. They have debts of £140m, and are very reliant on Ellis Short. They need to keep Kone, but they'd be vulnerable to a big bid. I bet Moyes is on the phone trying to work out if he could use Kone cash to strengthen his team. if he can do deals that he thinks would strengthen the team, he might go for it. Can't see Short giving him a transfer pot to spend.

We have four if we get rid of Jagielka.

Funes Mori, Williams, Kone (assuming he joins), Holgate.

We don't need more than that with no European competition. Williams doesn't get injured.
