Transfer Rumour Lamine Kone

We'll see. I'd like to think he (his agent) was simply trying to get us to offer what they wanted quicker with his comments. Although I don't know a ton about the player other than he put Stones to shame for a day.

Probably along those lines but, imo we haven't agreed the fee with Sunderland (they're asking for more) and the agent is telling Sunderland that they will lose the money as he is happy to stay (not). Bargaining tactics....football, players, agents, clubs....it's surreally everyday life at the moment.

To be talking to him about a contract, wouldn't Sunderland have accepted our offer, and then give us permission to talk to him.

Think with Kone and his agent just getting off, and with what his agent said, looks like this may all be down to what we offered, and what they wanted in wages being way off.
Yep spot on .
Fee and terms must have been agreeable for the player & Sunderland for him to stay in town last night.
If he/his agent can get a better deal elsewhere go for it lad . Your not what we are looking for.
If you want to be part of whats happening here your welcome . If not jog on plenty more like you out there.

To be talking to him about a contract, wouldn't Sunderland have had to accepted our offer, and give us permission to talk to him.

Ordinarily, you would think that but, there have been some deals where permission to talk was given while haggling over the fee. Didn't we have permission to talk with Williams (apparently)? Again apparently, they agreed a fee then upped it, so basically 'Who knows'?

Feel like i'm knee jerking a bit, but with our new found wealth and money in the bank following the sale of Stones, I would have thought it would have been relatively straightforward getting this one over the line, following the reports that Sunderland had accepted our offer.

It is concerning that we are struggling to get signings of this nature over the line. I am starting to doubt whether we are offering the wages some think we are and have concerns of our ability to attract top quality players.

Think with Williams it was more that we agreed a fee with Swansea, only for them to then knock it back, we hadn't discussed personal terms with Williams at that time.

Are there links to where it says we agreed a fee with Sunderland, because I've only seen headers that say we bid £18mill but, not that it had been accepted?
