Probably along those lines but, imo we haven't agreed the fee with Sunderland (they're asking for more) and the agent is telling Sunderland that they will lose the money as he is happy to stay (not). Bargaining tactics....football, players, agents, clubs....it's surreally everyday life at the moment.
To be talking to him about a contract, wouldn't Sunderland have accepted our offer, and then give us permission to talk to him.

Ordinarily, you would think that but, there have been some deals where permission to talk was given while haggling over the fee. Didn't we have permission to talk with Williams (apparently)? Again apparently, they agreed a fee then upped it, so basically 'Who knows'?
Common sense was Jags should be sacrificed age and injury prone also DM would have wanted him no sentiment in football now ask Hibbo!

Feel like i'm knee jerking a bit, but with our new found wealth and money in the bank following the sale of Stones, I would have thought it would have been relatively straightforward getting this one over the line, following the reports that Sunderland had accepted our offer.
It is concerning that we are struggling to get signings of this nature over the line. I am starting to doubt whether we are offering the wages some think we are and have concerns of our ability to attract top quality players.

Think with Williams it was more that we agreed a fee with Swansea, only for them to then knock it back, we hadn't discussed personal terms with Williams at that time.

Are there links to where it says we agreed a fee with Sunderland, because I've only seen headers that say we bid £18mill but, not that it had been accepted?
Look he has been great ten years at the age of 33 and injury prone are you saying the Swansea fans don't like Williams ?
It's just business if we want this lad from Sunderland with the sentimental value of DM in for Jags it was a no brainer business wise IMO!
