what can i say, absolutley superb few days away in dresden.
we stayed in a plush hotel in a square (newmarkt) about 15 minute walk from the ground.
met plenty of blues over there, and plenty of dresden fans who were happy to shake hands, not a hint of any trouble to be fair. very friendly atmosphere.
the fan park was great for atmosphere on the friday night just before the game, then onto the ground, very decent for a 2nd tier german side. created a good atmosphere in side, the noise coming out of the Everton fans was terrific, for the whole match friday night , non stop support and signing. best away ive experienced by far! being able to have a drink in the stands was spot on, and it didnt cause any bother at all.
i have to say the service was excellent from the germans in the ground, there must of been 15 staff serving the blues fans, i cant help but think if it were a pre season friendly at goodison, we probly would have had 2 staff on!! i would hate to try and guess the amount of ale that got drunk on the friday night alone!!!
the saturday game was obv going to be a quieter affair after fridays antics! even so, it was still a cracking atmosphere between the blues in the ground with plenty of banter as usual!
the heat was a killer, it was VERY VERY humid and sweaty, would of been hard playing football at 80-100% thats for sure.
gotta give a huge shout out to any blues who travelled on the coach!! 24 hours each way i was told, thats one hell of a road trip! fair play to anyone that did that!
all in all i was very impressed with Dresden, the football club and the city in general. would definatly go there again.
roll on the next Everton europe away. hopefully wont have to wait that long fingers crossed
ps: one player stood out for me during the games and i expect to see alot of him this season ... TOM DAVIES. the lad is going to be a great asset for us.
