I get where you are coming from but i don't think he is any better than McCarthy in midfield and we are meant to be upgrading at this point.

He is where he should be, midtable midfielder. Not saying he is a bad player, far from it. Just generally he wouldn't make spurs/chelsea/united/arsenal/city/liverpool team so by default we should see that as a not good enough for us either if we plan to match or surpass those teams.

considering we have a big 4 who need to sign elsewhere before the summer grinds rock bottom for enthusiasm, the rumors going are not helping. Least whilst Wjanaldum is a newcastle player we can at least be linked to him

With bit of luck they will keep them all - they will all fail to gel with each other and form an effective midfield - they will maintain their usual cake and arse standards and then tell us all that Klopp is great and that next year is their year.
