I agree but it doesn't need a massive overhaul.

Back-up right back, well we'll see. Browning, Holgate (while both centre backs by trade) will be given opportunities, and it'll be one of those deals that if we do go for one it'll be relatively cheap and I reckon late on in the window.

We definitely need a back up for Rom, and we need a quality CM (Witsel) and a playmaker (Mata) as well as a quality goalkeeper.

As it stands, that is it. With Stones likely to go we will obviously need a CB as well.

People/fans have a clamour for signings and mass sales of players deemed 'not good enough'. But that doesn't work, not at this level. It took Spurs three years to figure it out, and Liverpool still haven't seen the light...

This, i dont think we need a back up right back at all with Kenny, Holgate & Browning at the club.
Back up for Rom, playmaker, centre mid, goalkeeper, and replacement for Stones is all we need.
Plus we need to lose Kone, a midfielder or 2, one of either oviedo or garbutt & if we are lucky niasse

We'd finish 11th.
Probably in the end but if we got of to a shaky start or went on a dodgy run I wouldn't discount a flirt with relegation and look at Newcastle when that can happen.

We would probably have a similar season to either Swansea or Palace last year. Depending on when we would hit and lose form.

But their principle was always counter-attacking. It wins games mate.

Three/four years ago it was all possession based. It's now gone back to more of a counter/direct style to succeed in this league.

Pep is the manager who can probably change that. If he gets it right at City (e.g. a balance of both) other teams will try and follow suit. Koeman in his last two seasons has got it spot on at Southampton.
Fergie was a counter attacking manager as well. Leicester camped.

What's your point? He hadn't managed any of the big European clubs fighting for their respective titles. None in Germany, Italy, Spain or England.

His time in Spain was supposed to be his step before taking over someone like Barca and he failed and has been rebuilding his career since. Again I'm not saying he's a bad manager. He did well with Southampton and has won stuff so defintely a step up from Martinez but Frank De Boer won 4 titles in a row and I don't think you would dispute we would have had any problem getting him. My point was just that under Kenwright Koeman is about the level of manager we could attract.

I'm waiting to see the Juan Matas holding up the scarf before I'm convinced much has changed. So far it has been all talk but there's still time.
Signing a new manager is a huge risk for every club no matter how big.
Are there guarantees coming with Guardiola, Mourinho or Conte. Of the three only Mourinho has a history of success in England which is a very different league to Germany, Spain or Italy. Last season we saw how things could go badly wrong so quickly for even a manager like Mouribho.

Pochettino was hardly an obvious choice for Southampton and it turned out very well, Koeman also.
I don't fully accept that Koeman was the level of manager we could expect.
Right or wrong his profile had risen dramatically in his short time in the premiership. The suggestion was that he would stay another year at Southampton and then take over at Arsenal. He is still talked about as a future manager of Barca.
Talk only, but an indication of his profile. His current job will probably more clearly define his career, if he does a good job at Everton allied to an already high profile he could get any job in football, if he is not a success it will probably put an end to any hope of managing a top European club.
