Ok for argument's sake swap Lukaku for Bony.

I genuinely just can't see anyone coming in for Rom at our valuation mate - unless as I said Arsenal go mad or Napoli use all of the Higuain cash (if that move goes through), and I just don't see Rom being Emery's type of striker...

It remains to be seen obviously but at the moment I think we'll be doing everything in our power to keep Rom for next season.

If we could get a player of Bony's quality in as a back-up, it'd be superb.

You do realize Leicesters tactics basically were camp in their own box and hit balls to Mahrez and Vardy on the break. There's no way our fans would allow us to play like that.

Plus Leicester had some really good players in the right positions. Both their CBs, Kante, Vardy and Mahrez would have walked on to any team last year. We had Rom and that's about it.

Yes team spirit and organization were good but Leicester also had a great team and their good players in the right positions.

I think you'd find we would if we kept winning games

If we're serious about money no man should be off limits, everyone has their price.

But as we are seeing mate we are still finding it difficult as we have finished 11th two years running.

You have to be realistic.

Witsel and Mata are both realistic additions. James Rodriguez, for example, isn't...

The squad lacks depth and balance. Lots of left backs and CMs, 3 right wingers, no natural left winger. No decent cover for Rom or Seamus, I could go on.

We have some cracking players but the squad needs a lot of strengthening.

I agree but it doesn't need a massive overhaul.

Back-up right back, well we'll see. Browning, Holgate (while both centre backs by trade) will be given opportunities, and it'll be one of those deals that if we do go for one it'll be relatively cheap and I reckon late on in the window.

We definitely need a back up for Rom, and we need a quality CM (Witsel) and a playmaker (Mata) as well as a quality goalkeeper.

As it stands, that is it. With Stones likely to go we will obviously need a CB as well.

People/fans have a clamour for signings and mass sales of players deemed 'not good enough'. But that doesn't work, not at this level. It took Spurs three years to figure it out, and Liverpool still haven't seen the light...

You're wrong mate.

Leicester were absolutely superb last season. Towards the end of the campaign they had to change their style to be more of that 'camping deep' side, but at the start they were a joy to watch.

I said it at the time, and I covered the first 12 games of Leicester's season last year for work (just seemingly got stuck with them), and while I never imagined they'd achieve what they did, they were playing some sublime football at times.
The first 12 games when they were probably the only team who were conceding more than us? To fix that he had them camping in their box for the rest of the season. Great tactical change but that's what happened.

But their principle was always counter-attacking. It wins games mate.

Three/four years ago it was all possession based. It's now gone back to more of a counter/direct style to succeed in this league.

Pep is the manager who can probably change that. If he gets it right at City (e.g. a balance of both) other teams will try and follow suit. Koeman in his last two seasons has got it spot on at Southampton.

I'm not saying we'd have qualified for CL or anything lad, but our squad was probably stronger than Sotton's, West Ham's, Leicester's, Stoke's, and definitely comparable with Liverpool's.

I defended RM but he messed up big style, and while we wouldn't have been top four, I do think we should have easily been challenging for top 6.
It wasn't comparable to Liverpool. When they were going through the last days of their manager we struggled to get a draw at home against them. When the roles were reversed they hammered and humiliated us. Take off the blue tinted specs. They have a much stronger squad.

Comparing us to Leicester is just a joke. They walked the league by 10 points.

Yea but the point was more a question of how strong our squad is. I think we overestimate it because Rom has been fantastic. Take Rom out and put another player of say Bony's standard and I think we struggle.

If nobody is added to the squad there's no way this team would finish top 8, no chance. It's going to be another frustrating season.

It's lacking in so many areas but the "tru bloos" super fans will tell you they were just mis-managed.

(Yet they still backed Martinez until the end...)
