Stones tells Everton he wants Man City transfer

Just realised I'm gonna vault this thread to living hell in time to come so I'm gonna lay off any sort of opinion lest, well you know.

As long as we have 11 players for the first game of the season, I'm still in.

Regarding Stones, the hype is incredible. Football is rather odd from top to bottom.

What if another English talent emerges and proves week in week out how good he is, and Stones never makes it to be "future England centre back and captain". A few people will look rather silly.

Nothing is guaranteed, is all I'm saying. Good luck to the lad. We'll rebuild and will survive.

Now that Moshiri is here, if his intentions are good, as are playing out to be so far, then we won't just survive, we will complete, and win [Poor language removed]. Big time.

Understand that, I'm just saying Evertonians happy to move him on because he's overrated, poor, greedy etc etc are (something I can't post in Everton forum).
Yes, I agree. That is utter nuts.

We should ideally spend the next decade with a spine of Stones, Barkley, and Lukaku. He is imperious, and could improve beyond measure. But, alas, Everton first, and we need to spend and establish ourselves as a serious destination and contender.

If that requires a sacrifice...well...bye John.

I also do not consider him greedy. I would likely make the same choice, given he's a Barnsley lad and City can offer ludicrous wages. And immediate contention without having to be sold on a (hopeful) possibility.

He's making an eminently reasonable choice for his career, and I do hope it works out for him as he finishes 2nd-4th behind the mighty Everton for the rest of his career.

Then City can go get relegated. But I'll always remember the panenka against Juventus, even if in a friendly, and think fondly of John Stones.

His mind is made up unfortunately and his team are forcing the issue........we have no choice but to sell.

Get the best price and move on.

No biggy, he's not as good as people make out but until he is sold he is the best defender in the world.

Unfortunately Mori has had his head turned too i'm told.....same source.

Shame if this happens, he's going to be boss and it'd be a shame to not see him coached by Koeman. But if the money being quoted is accurate, it's mega money for an inexperienced centre half. Also, you can replace a centre half easier than a 25 goal a season striker, but I'd rather have both

Look at the best defenders last year - was he near any of these and that includes our captain. Stones is good on the eye but there are clear weakness, defending basic crosses being number 1.

the entire side couldn't defend a cross.

Not many defenders in the league possess the talent that Stones has.

He'll be a miss. He has the potential to be one of the very best, and I for one hop ehe fulfils it. In the meantime, £50mil is a good deal for us and we can invest the majority of that back into the squad.

You ITK lad?

Will be replaceable. On last season's form any half decent player will be an improvement. He will turn out to be a very good player but we need a solid defense to try to get ourselves back in the mix and he won't offer that for another couple of years. Hope we can spend that monet we get wisely bringing in a decent experienced player.
