ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

I bet we won't . Let's be very realistic . We are not on there level in terms of pulling power .

There's only two levels of pulling power. Those clubs with unlimited budgets and champions league guaranteed, and those without. Liverpool cannot attract the top tier of player. Neither can we. Everything else below that tier is open season and players are attracted by money, game time, and manager. We can therefore compete at exactly the same level as Liverpool. I'd argue we have a better reputation for career longevity, progression of young players, and managerial stability as well.

If Moshiri sorts the stadium, commercial revenues and gives us a transfer budget then we will very quickly be back on an even footing to compete with them on the pitch properly.

commercially we have nothing on Liverpool . You've got to be seriously deluded to think otherwise .

We need to stop worrying about Liverpool and concentrate on US.

I have already been accused of being a Kopite because I don't rate Mata in the other thread but you can believe what you want. I stopped hating Liverpool ages ago, it's pointless. They're no better than us and haven't won anything of note for over a decade! They are nowhere near the size of Arsenal, Man Utd or even Chelsea these days and it really annoys them. Liverpool are a stepping stone for the really good players. Getting Klopp was quite the coup considering how damn rubbish they are these days. But he isn't a magician, no manager is. He worked with world class players at Dortmund. At Liverpool he has a squad where Jordan Henderson is captain and James Milner is vice captain. And yet again, their owners are making 'Moneyball' signings. They still haven't learned that this doesn't work in the Premier League.

None and I repeat, NONE, of their signings are going to get them CL football so far. Look at Man Utd bringing in Ibrahimovic and Mkhtarayan without CL football whilst Liverpool scramble around for unknowns like Matip and more Southampton players.

And what happens IF (and it's a big IF) Matip and co turn out to be worldies? They will sell them to Barcelona or Chelsea. Liverpool are a selling club. They can't attract the big players so have to settle for the crumbs.

They're a joke of a club now and have been for quite a while. Only one set of fans actually delude themselves into thinking they're still a huge club and that's Liverpool fans.

Yes, and that means they have more revenue coming in each season, but it doesn't mean they can buy a Bale or Neymar does it? They're shopping at the same store we are. They might be able to amass and maintain a bigger squad but in terms of assembling a quality first 11 there is nothing stopping us from matching them at the moment.

there are only about 3 clubs who could afford a bale or Neymar tbf

Give it a decade. If the ground on the Waterfront comes off we will overtake them quite quickly. They will be left with a tinpot stadium in a terrible location, while we will have a world class facility on one of the most iconic waterfronts in the world. People would be cuing up to pay us what we wanted for boxes to be associated with the historic centre of one of the great naval cities.

A recent sponsorship deal for them declined too. Their issue will be if the Americans begin to lose interest. Being out of the champions league is starting to hurt them and we are at the tip of the iceberg for that, expect them to find it a lot harder to negotiate the standard of deals they have done. (They have oversold themselves off the field in recent years, largely based on them being champions league club not a mid table club).

There are limitations though for both clubs, if we fail to move to move to a new ground. There will be a glass ceiling, unless you have a new stadia we will always be left behind by clubs like United and City.

Why are you looking in the RS clubshop, but anyway you can see the total americanism in their ownership in being very capitalist and irking out every £ they can get even if it's cheesy or tacky.

Maybe we should take a page out of their book in regards to commercial and merchandise revenues,as their turnover in nearly 200 Million pounds more than ours.

Elstone and the commercial department needs to pull their fingers out in that regard.
Have you got nothing better to do then lurk on a rival's forum you sad troll? Is your life that empty that you crave the attention of other's to the extent that you pretend to be a blue online but don't even have a fraction of the intellect to carry it off for even a single post? My God do yourself a favour lad and go back to RAWK, your lack of knowledge and stupidity won't look out of place there.

The summer after I finished my GCSEs was one I'll never forget. The days seemed to last forever, hanging out with your mates, never ending games of football, eagerly anticipating the next house party and wondering if I would be able to drink enough warm cans of Fosters to finally talk to that girl I sat next to in set 2 maths for the last two years.

I still remember those days and nights @DownSouthBlue.

What I'm saying is you're a young lad with a long summer ahead of you, don't waste it masquerading as an Everton fan on the Internet. It's not worth it.

I agree new stadium with increased matchday and naming rights on top is 100 million plus a year.

Add to the club growing on the pitch with an increased kitdeal and other commercial deals i see your point.

We'll see, those estimates may be slightly optimistic, but as I said the Mersey Waterfront is a world iconic venue in one of the major Port Cities in the world. I strongly suspect with the inflation in football that commercial revenues on par with an Arsenal could be doable.

As for Liverpool the future won't look too bright for them. They will be left with the 4th best stadium in the North West in an area not conducive to investment with the 4th best manager in the North West. :D

I admire your optimism but it would take more than a new stadium to compete with Liverpool's commercial pull. We would need sustained success for a number of years.

I prefer to think of us as a separate entity and not judge our success by making comparisons. I'll just continue to laugh at their deluded fans and hope we beat them twice a year.

classic stuff from them on RAWK about us. Black Bull Nova epitomises their small club thinking with this gem.

They've slapped a £75m price on Lukaku to ward off bids, that's about £40m over the price that would put most off, slapping £50m on Stones might work as well.

Curious, I thought they had so much money that pulling in more was not that important, something fishy here, maybe Moshiri is good at making money not spending it.

It's as if we don't want to sell Lukaku by slapping such a hefty price. Just like they didn't want to sell their best players like torres, suarez and sterling so slapped prices so high on them no team could buy them.

FFS

31.5 Million for Benteke?

They always seem to land on their feet don't they?

Annoying, but the sad fact is players are worth the amount an idiotic manager is willing to pay - Thanks to Chelsea, City and now Palace they are laughing all the way to the bank (again) - stick a tenner on him knocking them out of the cup or bagging a hatrick at the pit in the near future
