After that interruption, the answer to the question is a guy called George Mahon, he was actually the organist at St Domingo's, along with a teacher called Sam Crosbie and Dr James Baxter they organised the split from 'King John'

The despicable Alderman Houlding (yes they had connections with the City council even then) initially attempted to usurp the name Everton, he then tried many variations, including athletic, but was refused accreditation. In his desperation he even tried to call his club Liverpool football club but the rugby team object as they said it was too similar to their title hence they ended up as Liverpool Association Football Club, a bastardised name if ever there was!
