Romelu Lukaku

That's right Steve. I was and remain completely anti-Martinez and it was absolute fantastic to see him get removed. It's also interesting that another your big great loves, Kenwright, has been marginalised and as soon as that happens, we are getting a high quality coach, renovations to Goodison and the rest of it. Both Martinez and Kenwright were an absolute plague in L4 and we will, demonstrably, be a better club for it.

But this is the Lukaku thread. A proper manager with a proper, professional structure around him will talk to Lukaku and make an informed decision. Then clowns like Elstone and Kenwright will be kept right out of it while contract or transfer negotiations are conducted. So enjoy the little snipes, and we will all enjoy the post- Kenwright and Martinez era... the two idiots that signed Kone and have had him here for three years too many already (not factoring in his automatic contract extension). Totally worth it.

Calm down young man..you're entitled to your opinion. As is everyone else on here. Early part of last season it was Kone and Del that supplied the ammunition for Lukaku. As for 'Kenwright has been marginalised'...well hardly a coup was it? He engineered it himself by doing what he'd always said he would do...that is find the right owner for Everton. Martinez was rightly sacked because its about results...it was during Martinez first season that the team had so much confidence that Coleman actually keepie uppied through the whole of the Arsenal midfield. Unfortunately it went wrong for Martinez, as it does for the majority of managers eventually, that's life.
So less of the drama queen, calling people idiots and using phrases like 'great love'...you have some interesting and valid opinions about football, but you do tend to decorate your opinions with crap.;)

He bags goals vs poor teams, that much is true. He struggles vs the best teams, albeit in an Everton team that struggled, too. But at the end of the day he's surrounded by absolutely boss players for Belgium, too and still struggles - ok he scored 2 nice finishes yesterday, but our McCarthy was one of a few who basically handed Belgium's goals on a plate.

I'd rather him stay, become a legend and bag goals for us, of course.

However, if he will forever be a noisy little whinge bag who blames his teammates for poor performances etc, I'd sooner get rid and find somebody who actually fits in to the Everton ethos that we know and love.

Less of the drama queen? Steve, for the past decade every time someone has the written something even remotely anti-Kenwright you've flown into another of your horrendously boring defensive posts.

Look, you've been boring on Kipper, you're even more deranged on here. Let's pop you on ignore to avoid having to see anymore of this tosh.

That's the important bit. Recent months have began to cloud a lot of peoples' perspective on Lukaku and he's swayed from a great to a pony.

Let's not forget that during his stay here Rom has scored a fair few goals and that includes against the likes Chelsea, Citeh, Arsenal and Liverpool.

He scored a hat-trick against Manure as well when he was at West Brom. Rom can score against the top clubs, we just didn't help him do that.

That doesn't take away from the fact he's looked pretty dire for months though! Very good striker? Yes. Top striker? Not yet.

No need for the last paragraph

The problem for me lies in whether he was dire for months down to himself, or down to the 'team' like he suggested.

If he stays on, and just sulks and stinks the place out picking up a new £140k a week wage, I don't see the benefit.

However it's obvious he is good and can do the biz. We'll just have to see what happens I guess, but he really won't shut his trap until the fat lady sings will he!

The latter few games of the season I would almost purely accredit his timid performance it to his attitude as he looked completely disenchanted.

Nevertheless, that's again looking purely in the short-term which is clouding the judgement of many - the knives came out in April!

In the middle to long-term however it was arguably more a team aspect; we simply didn't play to his individual strengths and that was obvious.

Martinez shoehorned him into a role whereby he had to play with his back to goal which didn't suit him. He improved but it was still lacking!

When he is playing with his face to goal, where he can use his speed, stature and presence, he shines. Rom can also pounce in the box.

We all use to laugh at how Liverpool tried to play Benteke in a way that didn't suit him, yet we arguably often did the same with Rom. Ironic?

I'm not oblivious to the fact that he must be adaptable and he did sometimes really frustrate with his lack of effort, but that wasn't in the majority.

If we had played more to suit his style then I do not think he'd have become as frustrated and equally this whole mess may not have emerged.

Rom can be his own worst-enemy sometimes but Martinez definitely did not help the situation! With fresh impetus I still think he'll shine again.

Martinez tactics were weird though, weren't they.

Never really thought of it in this manner, but it does make sense.

Hopefully Koeman knows whats up.

I hope he does stay and bags 30goals this season and the season after and so on and comes a legend. After the last 2 years, it's hardly surprising people want out, it's been terrible from every perspective, let's not forget he really wanted to come here after his first season. Hopefully Koeman can get him to stay.

So..you're not prepared to engage in discussion if people disagree with you? Ah well Bye Bye. 75 in July, still working full time, despite transplants and other health stuff...but my brains fine, thanks. Certainly not 'deranged'(You love words like 'idiot' and deranged' don't you?
