It has started , but as usual the media are missing the point.

It seems to me that quite a lot of the general football following public are either unaware or only vaguely aware of Moshiris acquisition.

It did not receive a huge amount of media attention, probably as it was not (correctly) perceived as a gamechanger which would potentially impact the wider league.

This, as others have said, is about Everton getting their own house in order. We can't expect a clap on the back and immediate increased attention for doing things we should have done years ago.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the reaction from outside Everton circles to Koeman's appointment - you know you're doing something right when people react with at best a grudging respect, or at the opposite end, insults and jeers. Plenty of people with no axe to grind against Everton have said it is a bold, unexpected appointment.

We have always had our own expectations and NSNO - we can concentrate as Moshiri is doing on getting on with the business needed to improve, on and off the pitch.

Ultimately if that is good enough, it will be reflected in results and performances, and hopefully silverware. We will get credit where and when it is due.

The return to the top table of English football has already started to happen but it seems to be slipping below the media radar.

The sacking of one manager and the appointment of his replacement costing in the order of 10m pounds is the kind of money that is only talked about when wealthy clubs are mentioned.

The new appointee being a manager which it was almost universally agreed was not going to happen as Everton were not attractive enough to tempt him from his present club and anyway his name was being mentioned with an Arsenal vacancy at some future stage....probably still will be.

The chase (hopefully successful) of an extremely high powered director of football in Monchi . This may or may not be successful but it shows a level of think unimaginable just a few years ago.

The new stadium has again become a live issue, this time there is a feeling it will be delivered and this time addresses are being mentioned that for so long were the stuff of dreams rather than reality.

I think that one or both of Lukaku and Stones will leave. I think the moves are probably more about money than ambition ...for the agents at least. I think we will spend a shed load of money but all the media will see will be the sales rather than the new arrivals.

I wonder when the odds for winning the premiership next season come out where Everton will stand.
I suppose the answer is a trophy and that probably would be a good answer, but the signs are there and they are being missed.

good

Things could change quickly if we get some big hitters in on the board, a big name in as DoF, some decent players and concrete plans for our new stadium. We need to do much more than get a decent manager in which is where we appear to be at present, we just need to ruin someone elses pre-season now.

Biggest signing for me would be David Dein joining the board (if true), the dream would be usmanov joining Moshiri after a failed takeover of arsenal.

Koeman (Need a manager obviously)
Dein (Massive addition to the club)
Monchi (Most welcome)
Forster (howards replacement)
Happy with Bony, Dzeko, Lacazette, Janssen to replace Romelu plus one other.

Good cup runs and a tilt at the top 5 would be brilliant. Additions to every department above.

We have no idea if it will be successful lid. Firing a manager when in 11th and hiring Koeman isn't real big news.

When we start to win games and put any pressure on the top four places then that's when the media pay you attention. But I'd rather we were under the radar and to get near those four places where we are at the moment will be very difficult.

Newcastle spent ridiculous money last season and got relegated for example.
And I still find it hilarious.

Fully agree, I think the media would take some notice if David Dein came on board. I can't name many other chairmen or people within their clubs but Dein was someone who everyone knew.

Ok lads let's calm the wish lists before we know Christmas is defo happening.

Everton bringing in Koeman is a big deal. Missouri identified the man he wanted and he went out and got him. This sends a message, we are now a club who will get what we want. The days of settling for second best are over. Now let us see what players we go after.
I think Koeman is a good addition, I don't know if he can deliver Champions League on a regular basis but he can move us up the league and put is in a much better position than we are in now.
In three years we will be a much more solid position and, if Koeman can't deliver the very top, we will be a much more attractive proposition for managers who can.
