Kroenke has probably instructed his brokers to acquire any shares that become available. There's little point in Usmanov acquiring other people's shares unless he knows Kroenke is going to sell to him also.

Private share sale agreement.

Unless Usmanov knows about the sale he has no rights to them or to bid for them. Does he?

I'm sure your correct but do you really believe usmanov has dreamt of owning Arsenal outright for 50 years.
I have no idea personally but wouldn't be surprised if he only realised they existed once the premier league began or certianly once the wenger years started up.

Usmanov is not going to undermine the value of his shares by making any public statements other than his commitment to Arsenal.

Any indication he will sell potentially indicates a problem within Arsenal thus lowering of share value.

Any indication publicly of a share sale by Usmanov won't be public until it's done. To ensure maximum share value of the sale.

@The Esk that's my thought.

Any move by Usmanov will be done quickly. Without notice.

Arsenal is listed on ISDX and the sale of any shares is a matter of public record so if he's interested of course, he (or his broker) will be aware of it. He has every right to bid for it, but he's not necessarily assured of acquiring any stock.

OK. So basically Usmanov appeared uninterested in acquiring small amounts of available shares at the value listed?

I don't blame him for not doing so as it does not alter the situation at all. He can only acquire control of Arsenal if Kroenke allows him to do so, so there's no point in just acquiring small amounts of shares.

It shouldn't be read as him no longer interested in acquiring or even holding Arsenal

So there is a latent interest and he is biding his time. darn with his loot wish he had come up here and partnered Moshiri.

Forgive me father for I am about to sin...

Read all that after someone retweeted it all earlier.

While i know he has a source, it feels a lot of work based on the fact Kroenke has bought up 40 shares, is it?

While it would be amazing, until i hear that Usmanov is selling, or Kroenke has offered money for his shares - ill stick with its not happening and Moshiri is going to take us places alone.

40 shares were sold (I think by one shareholder who happened to have 40 shares exactly) in 2 trades, 23 and 17 shares respectively on Monday.
Kroenke picked up 23 shares on Wednesday.

I'm aware of the rumours re Usmanov and the source, whoever it doesn't seem logical to me that if Usmanov wanted to sell he'd go about it this way. Equally if as is suggested in some quarters this is part of a wider strategy to join Moshiri at Everton, I think the Premier League would look very carefully at the situation.

You know a lot more about this then me mate, I mentioned on the post just after yours, that i don't see how the 40 shares improves his position much - is it something tactical or is it literally the shares where on the market and he just snapped them up

I suspect he just has an order with his broker to pick up odd shares that become available, it's in his interests to keep the shareholder base as small as possible and known to him as it causes him less issues at AGM's.

From an ownership or control point of view it makes no difference at all, other than reducing the potential for shareholder unrest. I'd say it was a defensive strategy rather than offensive.
