I know they want to appoint a DoF anyway, but it could be a complication in the discussions with Emery, one we potentially don't need. Can't fault Moshiri on this, but it would be better to have the DoF in place before the manager/coach.

...the Overmars appointment should be some assurance for those concerned with bringing youngsters through. He will be steeped in the successful Dutch academy structures, could be an astute piece of business by Moshiri.

Yeah am not sure how to read this one fully, he is either the totally best man for the job or is coming as part of a package with Frank.

I know DoF and managers don't come hand in hand, but that just has that feeling about it. Wonder if we do get Emery how that would work!

Am nailing it to the mast - i think we are getting De Boer, interviewed yet or not - we are getting slaps left right and centre and franky baby is the only one who is still trying to turn his blood blue.

Just a interesting little bit about the Emery to Real Madrid if they lose the final story doing the rounds, the source originated in Sky Italia (renowned garbage) and has been given legs by AS reporting it as a big story, since then obviously all other media sources are running with it based upon the AS report rather than the sky Italia one (as AS looks more 'sourced' than how sky italia would have any information on why the result between two spanish teams would dictate the future of another manager of another Spanish team and how Sky Italia of all places would be the first to have this story)

Perez the Madrod chairman has a colourful hostory with AS, and they are IMO trying to undermine the Real team prior to the final, Perez succesfully sued AS for a story they ran - think he domne them for defamation of character, AS have a definite agenda against madrid as can be expoected from a paper sued by the owner of a club.

Unless someone without a serious agenda against Real come out with a seperate source for this rumour, it strikes me as being compelte and utter bs, the same way we always get a player linked to United just before we play them in the media for example

And 'the promise from Madrid' wouldn't magically disappear after Saturday even if Real win. Moshiri seems switched on enough to lock Emery into a contract should he want him, cos if their interest is correct it would be hanging over him and us.

mate see what i said about AS having a anti Real Madrid agenda clearly as well, utter rubbish of a story designed to undermine the madrid team and hit back at Perez for the succesful lawsuit against AS

This. Perez already has had the finger pointed at him for only winning the league once in 8 years...sacking a club legend over a final probably wont help him.
There's pretty much nothing anyone can do to get rid of Perez as he's pushed through rules to make it so that basically only he is qualified to be president.

From his behaviour, I believe he prefers Saints but it seems to me that his new agent has briefed the papers that he's about to sign with Saints to prompt Moshiri into a big wage offer.
The Echo seemed to confirm what I thought. That Koeman is angling for a big wage offer, asking for 6 mil apparently. It's unlikely but don't rule out a last minute offer from Moshiri next week. Overmars as DOF would compliment this.
Emmery is possible but don't hold your breath even if Real win. He did the interview thing with WH and Napoli last year and signed on the dotted line. The dotted line of a new contract extension that is.
All will be revealed next week but right now the favourite has to be FDB winning by default as the only one who really wants the job.

Have to say, when I saw young Moley post that my faith in him diminished.

Well, if the Madrid story had legs, there is no point worrying about it. He would go there, just as Mourinho to Man Utd. All we can do is concentrate on making the best appeal to Emery whilst the discussions are ongoing, that's all we can control.

...you might be right but my view is that we have appointed a specific DoF and he's not part of a package with De Boer. Many foreign coaches already work with a DoF and I'm sure the people we are interviewing have endorsed the arrangement.
