....what I can't understand is why would Usmanov come in now and not when Moshiri first invested. Surely if they wanted to buy EFC as a partnership they would have done it from the outset.
I've convinced myself there's a good reason for that.

If the plan was always for them both to move to Everton, it makes sense that the quickest way to do that would be for one to sell their Arsenal holding to the other.

That Moshiri sold his Arsenal shares and then immediately bought the Everton ones suggests there was reason to hurry. Presumably the reason was the Americans.

Perhaps if they'd had more time, it would have been done differently.

There could be a number of reasons, Usamov now controls 30% of Arsenal which strengthens his hand when selling to Kroenke, but it's all conjecture. The thing that doesn't stack up in my head is why Usamov wants to remain at Arsenal (if he does) and continue to fight against Kroenke, it seems highly unlikely that he will get control given Kroenke's position, so it's a stalemate with no obvious end in sight, why stay?

I remember reading here at the time of the takeover that many though Moshiri had to act quickly (when the americans were looking odds on to purchase) and he was able to move his shares over to Usmanov pretty much immediately. It would have been a longer process for them both to have sold - and maybe they'd have taken a hit on the share price.

...if Hibs win the Scottish Cup today watch Alan Stubbs odds shorten.

If you're looking for reasons why Usmanov might say he wishes to preserve his Arsenal shareholding while not really meaning it, there is one obvious answer: a desperate seller never gets the best price.

He can't even get them out of the Championship. Two seasons now, couldn't even get them into the Play Off Final.

Them and Rangers were favourites for promotion and he finished 3rd in a two horse race, behind Rangers and Falkirk.

No chance.

....I agree but the bookies will shorten his odds if they win.

Haven't read all the pages so sorry if it has been mentioned but has anyone been on any Arsenal forums to see if they are saying anything on this?

Odds only shorten if stupid people start putting money on him.

There's not a chance he'll get the job, because he's not done anything as a manager. His primary objective was to get them promoted and he hasn't, over 2 seasons now.

If they lose today, there's actually a chance he might get sacked.

Could be lots of reasons, moving that kind of money/ assets around at different times probably has lots of implications or maybe the buyer at Arsenal wasn't ready but the American interest at Everton meant they had to move ahead of schedule, who knows.

If Everton have a development plan and he's not making progress at Arsenal, it's a plausible rumour that won't die easily.
