It seems weird we could be managerless for the next two months
I think we need him in before then.
Pre season will need planning as in my opinion Roberto didn't get enough games arranged last two years.
Also, the transfer targets need identifying and pursuing. This is a huge task and needs to be well under way before pre season.

Only teams that that other lot do their scouting by watching major tournaments- good managers should have identified the stars of the tournament well before it starts.

Spot on, you don't buy players on a wim of a few games.

Anyway I would like a manager asap to sort out preseason, get settled in, watch all the videos on Everton players. Meet them

“It’s difficult because when you get a new club in this period normally the clubs they did already their work,” Mourinho said. “I give you an example. I’m not the Chelsea manager but I organised the Chelsea pre-season in many aspects because I did that 10 months ago.

“Clubs have their commercial, marketing departments always involved in everything. When a new manager arrives in May, June it’s very difficult to touch in some points but we know that.”

But Mourinho said a late appointment would not affect his ability to identify and sign transfer targets before the start of the new season in August.

“Scouting is done during the year,” Mourinho said. “It’s not even a competition like the Euros where you are going to find by miracle some new talents. We know everybody, so it’s just a question of trying to choose the players that your team needs because the scouting, with our structures, we do it for many, many players.”

Nevermind, just read the story.

José Mourinho is certain he will be managing a club within two months and says he will sign a new contract by 30 June.

The 53-year-old Portuguese has been strongly linked with the Manchester Unitedjob but speaking from Mexico, he claimed to “know nothing” about a move to Old Trafford to replace Louis van Gaal.

Mourinho, who was fired as Chelsea manager in December, was back in the dugout on Wednesday in the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City to coach a Fifa Legends team, featuring Ronaldinho and Fabio Cannavaro, against a Mexican All-stars side.

Managing a team again, albeit for an exhibition before the Fifa Congress, had whetted Mourinho’s appetite for a return to coaching. “Of course I miss it,” Mourinho said. “In July I will be back. So we are in May. May to July is nothing. I keep enjoying my life which I’m doing, keep enjoying my family. But in July I am back.”

Asked when he needed to sign a contract by, the London-based Mourinho responded: “June 30 – that’s fine.”

Interesting to see quite a few articles mention that Moshiri was the one who made the decision to get rid of Martinez. I know @The Esk has already said as much but it seems like there's been a shift in power and quite a few of the papers have been encouraged to mention it.

The article itself is like an advertisement to all top managers. 100 million.
The 100m figure being thrown around is great and all, but I think top Managers aren't fools. They would want guarantees that every Summer after that first one, and January if needed, they will be backed in the transfer window.

Exactly! Which is why I'm not high on the likes of Mourinho and Pellegrini. FDB has worked with limited cash, then again, its Ajax. Koeman has done well but not without pretty significant spending. #JustHireEmery is the one we should really throw money at if he is ever talking to anyone.

I don't want us to go $100m now and then squat (or worse implode).

Take the time to find the new man, then give him some time and money (only part of the bazillion dollar warchest with a tight leash) to test the market and when we're starting to go places, we can be a bit more aggressive with our then improved income.

Everyone throws that $100m around like its free. It's not. It's mortgaging our presence in EPL and input from Moshiri. How long can Moshiri last if we're to spend like Chelsea or City?

And let's not forget the stadium issue. If we don't fix that when we have money, when will we fix it? When the TV deals start shrinking?

I second that #JustHireEmery

I'm going to post that on my Twitter every day till we hire someone. Hopefully I will not be disappointed!
