Not sure how many brush sets and rollers are there so do you need to bring your own?
Anyone got any dust sheets to cover the furniture that can't be easily moved? (Flaming sofas)

Speaking of the sofas, @Frodsham Blue how easy (or difficult) is it to move the sofas from one room to another?
Reason being, if carpets being fitted by a pro will probably want a clear room.

Have a roller extension pole I will drop off with other stuff and will look for some dust sheets.

Ladders would be great.
There should be enough rollers and brushes, but dust sheets also would be helpful.
The sofa was a real beast to get through the doors, but it can be done!
I would guess that it may be possible to part fit the carpet with sofa at one end of the room, then move the sofa onto the fitted carpet to complete the job. But as you say, let's get the paining sorted first, which Sergei has said he'll get started on.

Don't know what anyone else's experience is, but when carpet fitters are involved they'll do nothing until the room's clear and in fairness - having done my kids rooms many,many years ago, I know why.
Or perhaps I attract the surly, bloody-minded ones!
 

Hi Sergei
As promised got a few hours also tomorrow 12-ish onwards if you are in. No expert but could start with some painting and use of the rollers. Glossing may be someone else's expertise I tend to make a bit of a mess but could start on the walls. @Pienaar's gloves are you free and do you need a lift over that way as near Allerton. Also do you want to borrow a hoover for a quick once over?

Hiya mate, I'm free from 12 tomorrow, I'll be in town at uni until then so I can make my own way - ta for the offer though!

Also no expert, but if there is a spare roller then I can get involved in the painting!
 

Hi all.
Any sign of ladders at all?
Don't want to step on anyones toes or sound patronising, but the first thing to paint is the ceiling and as far down to within an inch or 2 of the picture rail possibly 2 coats?
Next the picture rail needs washing down and sand-papering to provide a key for the undercoat.
Then the sanding down of the rest of the woodwork
Then undercoat woodwork
Next day, gloss the woodwork.
When the gloss has dried and hardened, then do the walls.
Reasoning behind the above is gravity, the fact that it is easier to wipe emulsion off gloss than vice-versa and minimises the possibility of duplicating work therefore easier all round.
As I've already said, don't mind doing the undercoat/gloss if no one else has a hankering to do it, but haven't got time to do prep work as well.
Can't remember if the bedrooms and hall have picture rails but if they don't much easier.
Anyone want to shoot the above plan down, feel free to do so

It looks complicated how you describe it mate.
I thought just to paint the wall and that's it.
I will explain why. In the
tenancy agreement it's said that 3 people including kids could live here. I told the Your Housing group that probably in the summer there will be 4 people (inc 2 kids), and they (housing group) said that it will be overcrowded by their standards and they don't advice me to put carpet and do other costly things as probably they will tell me to move on.
I told them that I think the flat is big enough for my family but I don't know will they be ok with it or no...
So I mean probably all this big, big job you mentioned, Dave @hibbo'sclass, could be pointless if they will decide not to let all of my family live here...

Think this could be because you have two bedrooms and a boy and a girl. They will want you to have a room each for your children I imagine. In that case are you bothering to paint and decorate? Might be worth saving it for your next place.

Yes but extra room means more expensive rent and bills I am afraid.
This is strange. It's too big for me any too small (???) for the family? I thought and still think it's big enough.
