right, there's no actual reason or historical precedent that would suggest grounds for skepticism. clearly, mental deficiency is the only possible reason why anyone could still have reservations. it logically follows that everything is going to be wonderful forever.

FFS

if we're going to create half-assed psychological profiles for each other, how about this: the kind of people who have already decided, based on very limited information, that new ownership will definitely, unambiguously, 100%, only be an entirely good thing are subprime mortage-holding pyramid-scheme fodder, but its okay, cause a nigerian prince will in touch any day now to sort things...

Apologies for having an opinion Doctor Abel - I'll have to bow down to your PhD in psychology on this one. Hopefully your dissertation was on the psychology of football supporters and you can point us all to it to better educate ourselves.

Pointing out the FACT that many people live their lives via "routine" does not sugest any mental deficiency (quite a leap by you) - it is simply a case of they have a routine - end of. My father in law is a yorkshire man - suggest to him that he has a curry on a Sunday for a change from a roast and you would think I'd asked him to amputate his legs.

My comment was based on a narrow aspect of a much wider debate and was a generalist comment which offered an opinion as why some people may react in the way that they had or may in the future. Not an attempt to Pschologically profile anyone (half-assed or otherwise).

I decided in my opionion (many years ago) that Goodison is no longer fit for purpose and that something needs to be done about it. If the best way to achieve the desired endstate is a move then so be it - it will be a sad day and I will miss the place - but I will move on and make the most of any new home (if it happens).

Because that is my opinion does not mean that I am blinkered to the risks presented by a change of ownership or that I have decided that means the future is rosey. Because I like you have no idea if it will happen and what it means for the future if it does happen. Not being blessed with crystal balls I simply cant tell.

However - Not all change is good in the same way that not all change is bad - but it sometimes needs to embraced even if it is someway forced upon you. Like I've stated on GOT before - if you are so against change then you would still be living in a cave and crapping in the woods (maybe you do - I dont know).

Your leap that because I opined that a move may be positive must mean that I am naive and would fall for a whole myriad of scams is unfounded so don't worry about that aspect - the MSc that I'm currently studying is (by chance) currently looking at a number of aspects of social sciences and the interaction with technology and social media. I'm alive to the complexity of those sort of issues and wont be sending my life savings off to Eastern Europe or Africa any time soon.

@anton66

In my opinion it is the worst yes. There are times when we can barely muster up an "Everton, Everton" chant for the whole game. Even when fans come and take the piss we rarely respond these days.

People can make excuses if they like (not saying you will), but our atmosphere is pathetic.

Remarkable then the reluctance to move away from GP. Most of it is just sentiment. I understand that sentiment, I'll cry my eyes out the day when we move from Goodison, but for me it's time to move somewhere down by the river.

Not been to Goodison in a while but what would you say is the reason ?

I was there for Everton v arsenal in the 2013/14 season and found the atmosphere was amazing, mind you we won 3-0 :)

Has the atmosphere diminished with the patchy home form we have had in the last two seasons ?

I've been quite shocked at the nervousness, tension etc that I felt myself and across the rest of the support on my last couple of trips to Goodison - it is a bit bizzarre to be honest.

I just wonder if it is simply down to our expectaions and the fact that not many peoiple would argue against the quality of the players that we have in a lot of areas of our squad at the moment. I think we have built up our expectations of the current team to a degree where when they have failed to deliver - and they have - that the effect that we all feel across the board is that bit more profound.

The atmosphere is normally dictated by what's happening on the pitch....for example, we're losing at home to Sunderland but pushing forward in waves, getting stuck in etc = atmosphere lifts and noise levels go up...

...on the other hand...winning 2 - 0 against Sunderland in a game we expect to win = atmosphere dull, feeling of expectation ensues

Personally, I'd rather the above than the permanent 'chanting' of the Palace/Pompey Sky fans ...bloody irritating if you ask me

Lets admit, it's up there with the worst atmosphere in the prem. I've been to 7 or 8 aways this season and near enough every ground the home fans have sung. It's embarrassingly quiet at Goodison at times.

Gents, this is not the Goodison thread, just a gentle reminder, thanks.

So in a trying to stay positive and getting us back on topic before we end up on the naughty step style !!

Hopefully a change of ownership will give us all a much needed lift that is reflected on the field and off - come on Everton - put us out of our misery - is it on or off?

Is it good news or bad?

Who knows............................................................

No, but it is called Petco Park????

Is that the equivalent of Pets at Home for us?

Could be interesting taking my dog to the match - just wonder if I'd have to put the turd in one of those little floral smelling bags before launching the mini liverpool supporter at the pitch or the away fans (depending on how the game is going).

It's a pet store chain that paid for the sponsorship
