Hmmmm. I would suggest that actually McGeady was utter garbage almost every time he played. He scored one goal of note (against Leicester) and had maybe three assists? Four? He was AWFUL last season, so bad that Martinez went out and got Lennon on loan. Lennon then did more in ten games than McGeady had in two seasons. Martinez already knew he was going after Deulofeu in a big way during the summer 2015 transfer window, and Lennon was obviously available too. I reckon Martinez tried to shift McGeady that summer - that was why he refused to listen to any bids for Mirallas. Was he just NEA then? He wasn't great last season, but hardly anyone was - and he played just once this season I think. So it's not like he's been stinking the place out, week on week.
Roberto seems like a reasonably fair-minded man, though, (Robles apart). So if he's cast him adrift there's probably a good reason for that.
McGeady simply isn't prem standard. Even the likes of Villa don't seem to show any interest in him. I hope he has a storming resurgence in Sheffield and we somehow recoup some of the money we've thrown away on him. Failing that, let him go for free just to save the alleged £75k a week the fat no-mark is robbing us of.
