Oviedo had done excellently in that period and was dropped

Remember highlighting at the time what a poor message it sends to the fringe players

As for Baines bring the best LB in the league, If you go back 2 years maybe

Errr.... I am going back two years, to Martinez' first season when we finished 5th. Baines was the best left back in the league by a country mile.

Tell you what, can't believe that there are actually people who are still moaning at a 3-0 result, especially that mess Goodlass slagging him off for not playing Deulofeu. Mental that people can't seem to comprehend the idea of using a squad.

Again, when people are set in their opinions, it's hard to reason sometimes.

People wanted Rom rested, but fumed when he didn't start. etc etc.

I'm surprised someone on Twitter hasn't mentioned how anonymous Stones was today.

Has it balls.

It's improved but it still bounces off him regularly.

In any case, you were saying Kone had a poor game, and he didn't, he was alright and his overall contribution was good.

The whole team did their jobs well today and it was as comfortable a win as you'll see in a potentially tricky away cup game like that.
Today was a premiership stroll. It should have been comfortable like I was saying all week. Lose today and Martinez should be sacked before he gets in the coach.

Today was job done, nice and easy and didn't have to break a sweat. That's all it was, only the likes of Ross showing his class really is anything we can take bar the passage into the next round

Kane was going onto him all game, him and coleman were getting done every time

So it wasn't just him then... it was Coleman as well? Kane also actually had his best two chances of the game from picking the ball up and Mori applying no pressure to him.

But Mori didn't have a poor game...

Ashley Young

Hahah. Okay mate. Only started playing at left back when LVG arrived, which was the season after.

If that's not a terrible attempt at trolling, then you're also wrong. Very wrong.

Baines was hands down the best left back in the league that campaign. He got 6 goals and 4 assists, playing in a completely different style, and having missed six weeks of the season through injury.

Of course I'm winding you up ffs

He was a beast, agree to disagree though I don't think you should drop players who are performing well

I admire your stance but golden child isn't immune to critisim, he's been poor alot through out the season and he shouldn't be undroppable

Okay mate, fairs, you got me.

I agree on the principle, but though Oviedo had done well - and he had - Baines was the first choice and I do feel RM doesn't like players losing their place due to injury - something I agree with him on.

If he had come back at that time and been tosh, but not been dropped for a proved deputy in Ovideo, it would have been different. But he didn't as I remember, he came back and was as good as ever. Oviedo then got horribly unlucky with that injury.

I'm not saying he should be immune. I'm saying don't say he's been poor in loads of games when he hasn't. He was poor against Swansea, looked jaded late on at City having been dealing with Aguero and Sterling all match out of position, and made a mistake.

It was right to rest him today. It will be right to play him on Weds, IMO.
