Best Pubs in Merseyside

Used to go the races with the county court can't believe it's gone

From what I can gather. The living quarters above where in pretty bad order and that was most of the reason they couldn't get another licensee in. Plus the Pub Co wouldn't pay for the repairs, so that was the end.

Tragic .

It was ruined when they changed it from a big pub with a bar and a lounge. It was one of the biggest blue pubs in the city as well. I watched the Cup winners cup final in there and it was like being at the match. Whole pub decked out in flags, banners and scarves .

There used to be a little lounge within the lounge where it was so posh they would only serve halves. It's amazing how much you could drink when it was in halves for some reason.

as here used to be a room in The 5 Ways with an engraved frosted glass door that said 'Men Only' we used to get in there 12.00 -2.00 and read about the match in all the sunday papers while we 'recovered'. We would each bring a different paper and swop them round.

I was amazed when I went back in 2014 ( first since 2002 ) to see all the pubs gone. The whole month I'd be driving hither and yon and all I was saying was...there used to be a pub there...'k me they've knocked that one down as well. drove Mrs D crackers after a bit.

ps don't start me on them effin speed bumps.
