The ease with which we concede makes that a big if.It's been emotional, mainly the wrong emotions like but still, it's been emotional and we could still do ok if we have a decent run, so it's not all bad, even after yesterdays result.

As good as Barry has been this season im wondering whether having a more mobile DM (almost another McCarthy) in his role would help us defensively. Once the opposition are goal side of Barry, realistically he's never going to catch them. This means whilst in theory we've got a back 4 and two DMs when we are counter attacked more often than not theyre straight onto the back four.
Have never quite understood why defensive minded player = definitely good at organising defence
Longest serving manager in the country was a nothing player, would rather go on their coaching performance rather than former glories.
Nigel Pearson ffs
We've conceded 19 goals at home this season, 2 short of last seasons total and more than some previous seasons totals.
Holy absolute moly. Terrifying stats.
Mid point is exactly what I expected, and I feel the second half will be exactly the same. Win some lose some, play some good football, score some good goals and let some howlers in. The gap between teams in this league has closed more than I can ever remember really. We have no right to be challenging top 6 six ahead of teams like Stoke/Leicester. Unless we buy a couple more players, including someone who is actually suited to playing on the left instead of Kone/barkley/naismith/Cleverley who are all attacking midfielders/second strikers, we won't push on.
Unfortunately that's his style...part and parcel...can't separate it...Terrifying indeed. Most home goals conceded in the league. We are also the 2nd HIGHEST home goal scorers in the league.
Martinez with his attacking senses could really go on and be one of our best managers ever if he could just sort the defending. Problem is though he doesn't have this in his make up which is why he needs to bring it in. He won't though as he feels this is the way to go and will in the end be his downfall.
But this is the problem. In order to shoe-horn in 'his' players, like Cleverley and Kone, better players like Barkley are either being moved deeper to accommodate them or, in the case of Mirallas, being left out altogether.
It's what makes Howard one of the great Martinez anomalies. He's moved aside better players for his own rot, but not dropped a horrendously out of form goalkeeper for the man who kept him a clean sheet in his main managerial high point. Baffling stuff.
