ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Thought Klopps substitution said it all really when Skrtel went off.

He fecked up his team selection and tactics clearly but it allowed him a reshuffle to try and get a foothold. He's used to a lower standard of league and the busy Christmas period is going to come as a shock.

I can see them easily losing at least two of their next 3 games, and then they face Arsenal and Utd. They might end up in the relegation fight by the end of January.
If they struggle against Leicester (Leicester will take this game to implode no doubt) the two away games look difficult.

I wouldn't rule out what you suggest. It could get pretty ugly for Klopp soon.

to be honest it must have been known pep was leaving over ther . even the city fan in work knew he was planning to leave before it was announced.

The question is would bayern had even taken him considering his tactics were found out long before he had time to leave?
It's all about freshening up the product with Bayern though. They have such resources they can play anyway they like and pretty much win the Bundesliga. Guardiola came in and shed a few players of Heyncke's who played a more expnasive style and added one or two faces like Alonso and away they went. If Klopp had replaced Guardiola he'd have just waltzed in and reunited Reus with Gotze and Lewendowski and the title would be as good as sealed with the other quality players available.

I'd imagine if things are looking iffy in January and the committee can't agree on targets he might be off next summer and head back to Germany already.

I get the feeling he's not fitting in, what with his comments about Twitter, pictures in bars, the fans leaving early and then last weeks ill judged celebration of a draw.

Unlike Ronseal it's not what it says on the tin so far.

Meanwhile.....over on RAWK..Rush 82 concise bilge goes as follows :)

It is - however, I'm 'glad' (in a manner of speaking) that we're losing these games now and not getting jammy wins - at least 50% of the EPL plays this style of football and the boss needs to see it first hand when there isn't (that) much on the line, so that he can work out a consistent response.
He knows how to beat the footballers - now he needs to work out how to beat the hoofballers Oh My kin god...

I agree, tbh. I dont think this looks at all like a long stay from Klopp. I wouldn't put too much money on him sticking it out if there's big interest in him from a club that can buy his contract out. In fact, maybe Klopp has an understanding along those lines with FSG? It would certainly explain why a manager of his stature would go to Liverpool when others wouldn't touch them with a very long shitty stick.

Klopp could be on a promise to take over national side after the Euros ?

Yes, I think this might be a big worry for him. He's built his whole approach around a pretty basic pressing game and that can be countered with great ease in our footy culture with the majority of clubs who'd use a direct game. Better players he can and will get, but it might not be decisive if he's faced with opposition who dont hang around with, or really need much of, the ball.

I bet he's rueing the day he left Germany now given that the big job at Bayern was actually up for grabs. It sounds like he lost patience with Bayern and flounced out of the country.

4-4-2 has really gone out of the game, but I do think it's making a come back. In Germany they rarely play it so his system was perfect for stifling a side who want to play through the midfield. The link up play between Deeney and Ighalo was fantastic today though, I can see why Martinez looked at Deeney as he'd be a great foil for Lukaku.

I digress. I don't think Klopp for sides who will just by pass his midfield press. Given how poor his defenders are they need midfielders in front and they are getting increasingly isolated.

As for buying better players. He may well be able to do this but I think he will find it difficult at Liverpool. At Dortmund he had a fantastic scouting network, light years ahead of Liverpool's. It was also a scouting network that was adept at finding players to suit the tactical play he was looking for.

It's clear Liverpool's metric approach of bastardising analytics into a field they don't fit does not really lead to cohesive player recruitment. Selling Andy Carroll to later buy Benteke is one example of this. Without the right sort of players coming in to suit the system Klopp is going to be put under more pressure. Far more pressure than he was at Dortmund thats for sure. He looks to be cracking.
