Don't forget to do your homework before you play outWell if you read the post above from Deipnosophist and the quote given by the manager, I think you'll find I'm right and he in fact does like to have players with experience in his side.

At the moment mate howard needs resting he has become a laughing stock.Have to disagree on this one mate.
I see why Howard plays and it's quite obvious.
Howard has his issues, definitely, and Martinez sees it. Robles however is obviously not cutting it in training, to the point where Martinez had given up on him last year and was going to press ahead and find another deputy to put Howard under pressure.
Howard is the safer choice, in Martinez's opinion, mine, Doug's and others. It may not be 'safe' full stop, I don't think you'll find many who think that, but until we don't have more pressing issues needing investing (which we are getting closer to) or we get a bucket load of cash, the debate will rage on.

Yep we've been watching his goalkeeping performances when high this season. Can't believe Martinez tolerates players mainlining opiates and psychotropics on matchdays.Tim has had very strong highs already this season

The situation should have been sorted in the summer but for now joel needs a run.
Martinez bought him he must rate him
Martinez admits he may need to bring in a new stopper when the transfer window opens on Thursday.
"It's something we're going to assess," said the Blues boss. "Joel had his first start in the league. I thought he was really calm against Stoke in the second half and against Newcastle, it was a good introduction for him.
"It's something we need to assess. We have just found out about Tim. We're going to make a decision because we've only got Russell Griffiths and Jindrich Stanek as the two young goalkeepers, who have been working with the first team, so we need to assess that in the next few days."
I've answered your question in the post above, but to say because a manager buys a player - especially a young one - and then doesnt reserve the right to not play him if he isnt cutting it is bonkers. So why did he not do anything about it over the summer? Kone is a better striker than McAleny but you still wouldn't use that logic to justify not getting in a proper striker for the whole season. Robles is a Martinez buy. If he's not good enough what is he doing in the squad? It's an illogical argument this one Martinez keeps playing Howard because Robles isn't good. The answer is simple, in the 5 transfer windows he's had instead of hoarding defensive midfielders and useless wingers he could have bought a half decent goalkeeper.

Joel was 1st choice at wigan for a long time i don't get he has gone backwards that much.Genuinely don't think it's as simple as that mate.
I think he did rate Robles, and thought he would put Howard under pressure, but he hasn't improved in the manner he hoped. This is why Martinez wanted a keeper in January.
Now i know the above states that he wanted someone in to help Robles, but at the fans forum meeting he did at the end of the season Martinez said he believed Joel had improved and therefore didnt need another keeper.
I think the poor form of Howard and the non-starts for Robles proves that the spaniard just hasnt kicked on.
It will be our biggest if not second biggest investment of next summer, i'm sure of it. Until then it'll be Howard I think.
I agree with you though, he deserves the criticism he is currently getting

When he had a run last season he did well.
I think its cos martinez is stubborn and just won't drop howard.
Its going to cost us though cos howard is that scared its laughable.
and therefore what does that make Robles, in the eyes of the manager? At the moment Howard is as safe as a split condom.
