Bizarre, I'm Optimistic

If Mori, Browning, Galloway, Naismith or Del were to be dropped for the next game you could actually argue they are being dealt a harsh deal. However, you have to play your best XI when available, but the truth is we have not missed really Baines, Stones or Mirallas in the last couple of games.......Coleman you could argue of course as he would give a bit more going forward...Baines for his set pieces.

13 points after 8 games having played some of the top teams from last season home and away with 4/5 players to come back from injury/suspension.

Why shouldn't we be optimistic? (Ignoring the fact it's Everton ffs)

I don't neccesarily think we have a 'best XI' mate. For example, I reckon my first choice team would be vastly different to the managers. But it depends on the game. I would never play Barry and McCarthy at home to some crap, there's no need for me, but Martinez probably would.

Good position to be in really.

Lost one game all season, against City

Let's keep it going in the next two and then we can get happy

I think we're doing well. Take yesterdays game, bar Benteke, the vermin were almost full strength. Fully fit, I think we would have lined up with Baines and Cleverly on the left, Stones back in the middle, and if Coleman starts, Lennon should, with Del on the bench which would be a very strong bench. If we can keep the confidence levels up while we get back to full strength, we could be on for a memorable season. My main concern would be if Lukaku got a long term injury.

You only had to look at the lads sitting in the stands yesterday to see our strength in depth. Haven't got a worry about us beating the big teams at home who come and have a go but it's how we break down the smaller clubs who park the bus like Watford and Liverpool that will ultimately decide where we finish. We need more consistency from Rom, Ross and Del and we'll be flying.

I have optimism for this season. Cautious optimism!
Fingers crossed for Europe again next season.
Oh, and a cup too please!
