Yes...basic goalkeeping that mate.

Ey its all about opinions mate.

I think that's one of the most bizarre things I've heard all evening, including Jamie Carragher thinking he was unearthing some secret that Everton have an inferiority complex when it comes to playing Liverpool.

Yeah mate, he's miles away. Didn't have anything to do with an unchallenged, point blank header straight at the ground.

Is that image supposed to be a defence of Howard ? lol

So any inswinging corner has to be caught by the keeper the moment it hits the 6 yard box....regardless of pace, regardless of height...and failure to do so is a failure of the goalkeeper?

Nope.

I think there's a case for saying almost any in-swinging corner that reaches the back post, then the goalkeeper assuming clear passage, should be favourite for the ball. There was no-one impeding Howard if he had chosen to go for the ball rather than stay on his line. Having said that, the fault lay with the failure of man marking (Barkley/Jags).

You can, but you'd be wrong in doing so. People post incorrect stuff on here all the time.

Thought he was unlucky on Berahino's...read the danger well...came out and got a foot to it. Just not quite enough.

he should have carried on coming out imo, he may have got the ball first, but then berahino could have gone around him, he came out and sort of stuttered and stopped half way. there were 3 people more at fault for the goal though.

the second one - just because people blame him on this thread doesn't mean nobody else was at fault. the only defences of howard i see from people on this thread was "so it wasn't [insert player's name here]'s fault. Howard is the last line of defence for a reason, he's there when outfielder's make mistakes, i really don't get the excuse - it's akin to kopites blaming chelsea.

many were at fault for the 2nd goal, but nearly every keeper in the league would have come and dealt with that cross. if it was bulleted in i'd defend him but it was a slow, high lofted ball which ended 3 yards out.

last night he did come out of his goal, when the was about 8 or 9 yards from the goal and he was flapping at think air leaving an empty net :s just all very weird.

I thought he was at fault for the first one actually, stalled his run on the ball. He's been alright this season generally, he's earned some sort of reprieve.

i think all he had to was stand in goal to be better than last season. spurs aside, he's still not really made any saves this season. i only remember one from him tonight and that was as easy as they come straight at him.
