John Stones transfer saga

Mate. What Kenwright has said today (take it as you will) and Bobby yesterday

Is EXACTLY what theyd said in July.

Not for sale at any price.

Theyve said that to another club. Not just Chelsea.

That other club didn't go public as they understood what was communicated.

...at the beginning of this saga, Mourinho said all EFC had to say was the player is not for sale at any price. My understanding was we did this but Chelsea continued bidding.

You have absolutely zero idea what he's saying to him behind closed doors though.

Nothing wrong with the captain making a neutral PUBLIC statement, to attempt to take a bit of the heat/pressure off his 21yr old team mate.
Oh yeah, 'behind closed doors'. He's the captain of Everton employed to speak for the team in the public domain. He did so and presumably they are his feelings on the matter.

Let's put it this way: if it were left to Jagielka rather than Martinez, Stones would be walking around on the Kings Road now shopping for his new 'big club' wardrobe.

Did our glorious leader mention anything about the missing transfer war chest or is that a bit too much for him?

It'd be nice to think we dont need the Stones cash to have a summer spend over and above £5M, but I doubt that's the case.
On this occasion I think we sit back and praise the manager and the board

Praise on this occasion is deserved

Other arguments should be put to one side for the moment and we should be proud in what the club has done and how they have made a moral and financial stand

I'm all for Everton doing all they can to keep their player but this is a bit of a ridiculous comparison.

Aside from the fact that Luiz has more starts for the Brazil national team than Stones has for Everton's senior team, one has featured in the finals of, and won, the Champions League, the Europa League, numerous domestic cups and multiple league titles.... and the other has.....?

And Luiz was hugely over priced, so by comparing the two and saying this is why Stones' is worth it kind of undermines your valuation in my opinion.

I'd just say, if I was in your camp, he's 50million cause that's what he is worth to us and we got him on a contract with 4 years left. Simple, and how do you argue that?

I don't think it's ridiculous. Chelsea received that fee for a player recently so it's a good marker. English talent is always vastly overpriced so taking that into account asking them to pay the same they received for Luiz seems the starting point.

I expect "EVERTON SHOULD LET JOHN STONES GO TO FURTHER HIS CAREER" all over the press this next 5 days

Everyone knows whats coming next

With the reported loan drawdown (finance thread), I suggest 15-20 is coming RM's way

More conjecture, but we do know how you love it. Have fun.

I know that another club inquired. But were told

"Not for sale at any price"

That was in the last month

Not really. I'm looking at this from a season perspective, not the short term buzz of telling Jose et al to swing it.

We have £5M spent this summer.

That's it. Bottom line.

The board deserve nothing more than a boot in the bollocks.
