John Stones transfer saga

I'm not a scout at Everton, so don't know who we'll be targetting id Stones leaves. Convinced there's an emergency plan in place in case he should leave. Maybe only a short term solution, but no way I believe there will be no action from our part in that worst case scenario.
We need no one to replace someone who is not for sale, we do need cover in a centreback who can dominate in the air Stones , and jags can not do this!

Yes but we stopped the stones transfer, and have two unknown river plate players!
Surely we must have funds without selling stones!
...see p862 for a breakdown demonstrating this not to be the case unless Everton draws down fresh debt or extends the maturity (rolls over) existing

Think I'd cry if I was going all way to Liverpool only to come back home to Barnsley,

How would some of you react if he signed a new 4 year deal this afternoon and all he was doing all along is playing the game to get his wages in line with rest of your squad ?

yes, if we now value him at £40m + then he really needs a new contract , one that matches the top earners at the club.

EFC took out a new loan this month, just as the last one was to be repaid.

There is no way there isn't money to spend without sales. Look at our turnover - wage ratio in the last accounts. Won't be 50m of course, but there will be room for manoeuvre which hasn't been the case very often in recent years.

I'll be amazed if stones and his agent weren't meeting with Martinez today. Stones needs to be told he will get his move but not in this window as we don't have time to get a replacement. Second on the agenda I'm sure is how stones is going to try and win over the supporters and issue a statement from the lad. Thirdly get stones to sign a contract with improved terms with a release clause in it explaining he can be sold next summer for an x amount.

Joey.....I would suggest that if we could find a centre half who can dominate in the air then far from use him as "cover" he goes straight in the team because my heart is in my mouth every time the opposition hits high balls into our box :(

starting to sound like a bad pun...'how do you make stones cry? play him against Barnsley' Although I prefer the old coldest cup final one..Spurs put Coates on at half time.

First time I've seen such a strong defence or at least I've believed the manager in what he says, I dunno why I believe all this I feel confident he will stay until at least January now. This only ups the price for all parties to sell in that terrible window.

Martinez is toeing the line perfectly here and it's looking like he's been briefed on the correct approach, it's all Chelsea's fault and the " project " is a bigger part of the plan.

He's played a blinder up to now for me. Stones is gone to me!

either that or its blind panic ! we couldnt even tempt scott dann away from palace earlier in the transfer window, what on earth would we do if stones leaves now?? the simple fact is HE CANT LEAVE US.. else we wouldnt have a defence!
