I hope you will be eating humble pie with Davek! it may go to the wire if silly money comes in?I reckon he won't be an Everton Player come Wednesday.

They've played a blinder. No question. £20M will have to become at least £35M in the end, so that's no mean feat to pull off (if it happens).I personally think we're coming out of this well. On the face of it, Martinez has refused a transfer request and selected the player with no hesitation while telling the media bluntly that he's not for sale. Also, all offers have been rejected out of hand, not for sale notices issued and (albeit poorly shot on a phone) footage of Jon Wood saying neither he nor Kenwright will sell him.
Perhaps it isn't that transparent and I'd be surprised if he stayed, but on the face of it we have acted in a much more respectable manner than Chelsea and the media, who are now fuming at not getting their own way. Almost like a sense of entitlement that LFC have, but without the honours list of either us or the reds.
Chelsea and their London based media are being divvies, essentially.

...that'd be called a transfer winnow...Actually, yes. With the Vibrac loans and so on, this situation five years ago would have resulted in Stones being sold pretty quickly.
And next season it gets even bigger.
What's the point in trying to outspend the top four? We have no chance of doing so - so why not sell the chaff, bring in wheat and grow the club the right way.
I'm convinced that's Martinezs strategy, and it's a good one.

Hoping you're right!Stones is not going to be sold for two reasons (i) Martinez does appear to be committed to building a team including his young core of Stones, Barkley and Lukaku as the key components and (ii) perhaps more importantly it fits the Board's narrative. "Money does not buy you everything" could have been penned by Bill himself, after all we've lived/survived on this philosophy since 1999. With the signing of a new financing loan against 2016/17 revenues the club will bring in some new players before the deadline, will keep the existing squad intact and Bill and the Board will face off the BU and Kenwright Out crowd with these two points.
I said earlier today - it is a master stroke, a wonderful defense against the claims that we need investment to move forward. I still believe we need that investment because my ambitions for the team are higher than the Board's and we need funding for the stadium and commercial activities.
I could hear more than one fan reports were there were a few idiots and most got shut up by true blues, it happens , but goldust for the media unfortunately, you can bet they were going out their way to get this clip !
Can you please tell me who these replacements are at this stage of the window.
Hoping you're right!
Let them.the thing is, widespread media has already painted us as villains

My argument is that we should see anyything and everything said and done as part of the game that boosts price. It'd be supremely naive otherwise. We all swooned a bit when Roberto said what he said last night, but in reality he'll know that exiting a window stronger than you left it is the only game in town worth winning. He always emphasises that. Hence his later statement drawing Kenwright into the fray about not weakening the team....more a pressure placed on his chairman that if he does decide to sell then we better get this cash recycled into the team and not sit on it or have no time to spend it.
I'm not a scout at Everton, so don't know who we'll be targetting id Stones leaves. Convinced there's an emergency plan in place in case he should leave. Maybe only a short term solution, but no way I believe there will be no action from our part in that worst case scenario. Can you please tell me who these replacements are at this stage of the window.

Boosting the price is of little value if that increased fee is then squeezed out of you by other clubs who know you've had (or are getting) a huge windfall and the window is about to slam shut. They've played a blinder.
