John Stones transfer saga

Just seen on Facebook (not the most reliable source in the world I know)

Just wondering if anyone else has heard anything about this and if there is any truth in this? Any truth in Stones breaking down last night at the services front of our fans because of being asked about his future?

People acting like there's no way back for him after the request... what rubbish.

Of course there is. Southall handed a few in, in 1990, all rejected and he stayed another 8 years.
Jeffers handed one in in 1999, rejected and stayed another 2 years.

In some conveniently forgotten history that few ever bring up, even Saint Stevie G, just 2 months after winning the CL, asked to leave Liverpool. Both him and the club released statements saying so. He stayed another 10 years.

The point is, we can keep Stones, he's our player, and just because he's asked to leave now, doesn't mean anything. We make the decisions. And who knows how he'll feel in 1/3/6 months time. 2 of the 3 players mentioned in this post all changed their tune soon enough.
If you are implying me mate, I totally agree he must stay, and if he does he should come out with some statement to appease the fans.
My argument is against those that believe he has been "ill advised" or "forced" into handing a transfer request. Own up to your actions, tell everyone you are happy to stay on September 2 and move on..

I can't believe I am defending Chelsea but no that's a convienent interpretation . Chelsea seem to have a policy if a player asks to leave then they won't stand in the players way
The commoditisation of everything these days into £££££, $$$$$$$ and €€€€€ kind of gives Chelsea a fair bit of wriggle room on its policy 'principles'.

well you have missed out huge chunks of the definition of slavery most of which is to do with the person having no say in where they move at any given point or the terms of their contract and receiving no financial remuneration. You did use the word unilaterally which is exactly the point, the contract is a mutul agreement. He can break it but there are consequences.

Slavery is a far wider matter than just about freedom of where they are or indeed receiving remuneration

There would be no consequences if Stones walked away from Everton and went to work at say Mc Donald's the consequences revolve purely around his registration to play football . so the argument goes full circle in that there is a valid arguement around football rules re tapping up but the suggestion that Everton would go to law is doomed to failure

I FInd it Disgusting how some people tret john stones last night, booing him etc and that tosser at the end near the tunnel. John stones will continue to give 100%, he's obviously got a lot on his mind at the minute, nobody will know exactly what has/hasn't been said and by who, the board?, stones, bobby, chelsea etc so while ever he's got that shirt on his back need to get behind him he clealry does love the club. there is no reason if we keep him we can't be challenging for europe again come may, Barkley looks up for it this year, stones and Jags have a great understanding (although not on show at times last night) Coleman probably best right bak in league and him linking up with delofeou this year will be deadly. Baines is to comeback. McCarthy,Cleverley and Besic will have a big year.

get behind the team and they will respond.

People can ridicule that rat fan all they like, they shouldn't make out like all the fans were doing that because they weren't.

I was shocked by the Echo's match report saying something similar and have complained to them too. You can't account for everyone but it's complete revisionist bollocks to make out Stones was jeered by everyone when he patently wasn't.

Yep, I agree - idiots shout (/tweet?) the loudest, or something like that... and as someone said before it was obvious that he was being applauded and he had the balls to come over so can't have been anywhere near as bad as 'the Echo chamber' made out...

...was just curious about Naismith, as he seemed to make some kind of 'shushing' gesture in his celebration.

A world wide accepted defination of slavery is "if he or she is forced to work for another person without the ability on their part to unilaterally terminate the arrangement. I am not a fan of Blatter but this is the very issue he was trying to highlight some while ago

As for breaking his leg I guess you are talking about when playing football which surely would be an industrial injury but irrespective are you telling me that at the end of a contract the club would still pay his wages if he was not able to play elsewhere because of the injury

Football player contracts clash all over the place with law both here in the UK and even more so in EU

The clubs only in effect have one ace and that is the players registration and even then slowly but surely that power is being eroded. Save gross mis conduct you can't sack a player and save a club suffering an insolvency event you can't make them redundant.

First we had Bosman then we had Webster and football has had to respond by introducing rules around compensation for the likes of training and the transfer of a registration as opposed to the transfer of an employee

A worldwide definition of a 'contract' is: a written or spoken agreement, especially one concerning employment, sales, or tenancy, that is intended to be enforceable by law.

A contract is a contract. You agree to play for someone for a set period of time. Some contracts have buyouts clauses. Some don't.

Stones is not being held against his will. He signed a legally binding agreement.

Whether a club chooses or not to say, "Awwwww, you want to leave? You're really sad about it? Oh.... go on then, we'll agree to sell you" is entirely up to the club.

The idea that Everton are the bad guys in all of this is entirely asinine and totally skewed from a Chelsea point of view who are aghast at not getting what they want, so accustomed as they are to stamping their feet, yelling loud, and throwing money at something until they get what they want. The very fact they're now resorting to the 'It's just not right, it's morally wrong' (ha! coming from arguably the most morally bankrupt club in the country) simply illustrates how rattled they are, not how wrong we are.

Went to bed last night thinking this situation was nearing the end.

Imagine my despair when I woke up to stories of:

A) Stones crying in a parking lot or something

B) Fans abusing him

C) Videos of fans following him to his car.

I hope this either isn't true or is somehow being taken out of context.

Imagine 20 people hassling you while you are just trying to get fuel, he's a young lad and you know how passionate and verbal our supporters can be, treating players like public property when in fact he's a private young lad who is just good at football and getting paid for it. I'm sure the Chelsea fans dont hassle the players in the team car park which Ive been in.

The commoditisation of everything these days into £££££, $$$$$$$ and €€€€€ kind of gives Chelsea a fair bit of wriggle room on its policy 'principles'.

Keith Curle who manages Carlise was on Sky yesterday and he said that he and indeed most managers ,irrespective of who the player was, would be on their way if a player said they wanted out and maintained that stance.

I don't think it's anything at all to do with money it's more to do with managing the long term impact of having a player that wants out and the message that sends to future players or should I say future players agents

For anyone who missed the crying story, some lads started posting pictures of players at the service station after the game. The twittersphere's narrative is a lad said "We know it's the board, not you" and Stones is pulled away by Naismith, who tells the fans to stop putting pressure on the lad.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Mate was in the services with Stones. He said: &#39;We know it&#39;s the board and not you&#39;. He started crying and was pulled away by Naismith.</p>&mdash; School of Science (@SOS1878) <a href="">August 26, 2015</a></blockquote>

That Jacob lad looks like he was there, as he got a picture with Kone.
